A Snapshot of Your Day As Head of Procurement, you will lead the full spectrum of procurement activities—strategic and operational—across a dynamic energy sector manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for developing and executing procurement strategies that ensure cost efficiency, supply continuity, and supplier performance, while supporting innovation and sustainability goals. This role requires a strong understanding of manufacturing operations, energy industry dynamics, and global supply chain trends

You’ll lead a team focused on executional excellence, supplier performance, and inventory optimization, while also driving the strategic direction of procurement including decisions around make-or-buy, country of origin, and the definition of strategic partnerships. Your proactive approach will resolve supply chain issues before they impact production, and your leadership will foster continuous improvement, reduce errors, and enhance operational efficiency. You’ll play a key role in ensuring that deliveries are optimized, compliant with internal policies and regulations, and completed on time.

Your Tasks:

  • Develop and execute long-term procurement strategies aligned with corporate goals, market trends, and risk mitigation.
  • Lead strategic sourcing across direct and indirect categories to ensure innovation, cost-efficiency, and supply reliability.
  • Manage supplier segmentation, category planning, and contract lifecycle to maximize value and performance.
  • Negotiate high-value contracts and build strategic partnerships that support business growth and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, R&D, and Finance to enable early supplier involvement and design-to-cost initiatives.
  • Monitor global market dynamics, geopolitical risks, and regulatory changes to adapt sourcing strategies proactively.
  • Champion digital procurement transformation through e-sourcing platforms, analytics, and supplier portals.
  • Oversee daily procurement operations including MRP-driven purchasing and inventory control.
  • Manage the full purchase-to-pay process, including PO placement, logistics coordination, invoice handling, and payment execution.
  • Ensure timely and accurate procurement of raw materials, components, consumables, and indirect goods and services.
  • Optimize inventory levels to balance cost, availability, and production continuity.
  • Coordinate with production planning, logistics, and warehouse departments to ensure efficient material flow and delivery.
  • Monitor supplier performance (OTD, quality, responsiveness) and lead corrective actions and continuous improvement.
  • Support internal and external audits, compliance processes, and procurement-related risk assessments.
  • Track and report procurement KPIs, prepare dashboards for leadership, and ensure alignment with governance standards.
  • Lead and develop a team of operational buyers and procurement specialists with a focus on manufacturing excellence.
  • Lead and develop a team of strategic buyers focused on excellence, stability, agility, innovation and partnership.
  • Provide training, coaching, training and performance feedback to ensure team effectiveness and alignment with operational goals.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, lean thinking, and operational excellence across procurement functions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field; professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, CPSM, APICS) are highly desirable.
  • 8 -10 years of procurement experience in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, BOMs, production planning, and MRP-driven procurement.
  • Proficiency in SAP is required; experience with other ERP systems is an asset.
  • Demonstrated expertise in supplier relationship management, inventory optimization, cost analysis, and budgeting.
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.

We offer: In accordance with the Pay Transparency Act, we are committed to providing clear and accessible information about compensation for this role. The expected compensation

range for this position is $140,000 – $175,000 / Annually. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on several job-related factors, including relevant education, depth and breadth of experience, professional certifications or license, specialized skills aligned with the role, and internal equity considerations. This role offers a comprehensive total rewards package, including paid vacation, group health benefits, pension plan, bonus, and additional employee programs.
