About the role
What You’ll Do The AVP, Decision Support Transformation is a key partner of the Decision Support team for product merchants, finance and retail operations to advance Finance and Strategic Objectives for CTC. This role is responsible for driving the organization to achieve its financial and strategic targets by leveraging technology platforms to deliver self-serve analytics capabilities. The primary focus is on utilizing the Microsoft Tech Ecosystem, including Azure, Power BI, and DataBricks, to enable and enhance the underlying data and platforms for the team. This position is accountable for developing talent and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Our Finance Decision Support team plays a key role in supporting the office of the Chief Operating Officer with actionable insights on strategic initiatives and business performance. Reporting to the VP of decision support this role will collaborate across banners and teams to enable data in cloud ready for enterprise-wide analytics and insight delivery through self -serve data solutions and analytics delivered by the Decision Support and FP&A teams.
This role will lead the deployment of self-serve analytics, data enablement, and process innovation, configure platforms and setting best practices data product delivery. Critical to the role is building strong relationships with IT, business, and finance teams to deliver data products that unlock value for the business at scale in a lean operating environment. Key customers of this role are the Merchandising teams across all banners (CTR, Mark’s, Sport Chek, etc.), Decision Support (DS), Mark’s and Sport Chek Store Operations, and the broader FP&A team. This role is accountable for developing the talent on the Decision Support team through thoughtful leadership and coaching, instilling a passion for continuous improvement, professional development and process transformation.

Leadership of the cross banner self-serve analytics strategy and delivery in support of the operational and strategic objectives of the COO office.

Product management – implement a process for collecting requirements, prioritizing resource allocation, and road mapping of future releases

Delivery of strategy by democratizing trusted data assets, enablement and scaling of DS & FP&A team on platform and development of high-quality business intelligence solutions for high impact high value use cases.

Serve as a trusted partner to key stakeholders, ensuring alignment between business objectives and the insights strategy.

Translate stakeholder goals into actionable plans, providing strategic support and clear prioritization.

Collaborate and communicate cross-functionally with business, IT, and data teams to influencing strategy, prioritization, and resources allocation in support of the self-serve strategy, while also aligning with the enterprise IT strategy and roadmap.

Lead transformation and change to how teams’ access and consume data to make informed decisions in their day-to-day activities.

Lead and mentor a high-performing team, setting a clear vision, building a talent pipeline, and multiplying the capabilities of your team through thoughtful leadership.

Drive the transformation of complex data into compelling easy to use professional data products that support informed decision-making across the business and within Finance.

Test and learn on the application of AI to analytics and business workflows as the cloud-based data ecosystem at CTC matures.
What You Bring
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and influence teams, fostering a high-performance, highly motivated teams, with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of leading technical teams in the development of data pipelines, design of BI solutions, cloud data solutions, and process automation. Experience with tools such as PowerBI, Azure (Synapse), DataBricks, Python Pyspark, Power Automate and similar tools.
- Strategic & Analytical Thinking: Ability to think creatively, strategically, and technically to establish a future vision for self-serve analytics tools and process transformation. Strong problem-solving skills and understanding to

- Communication Skills: Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to "story tell" and convey complex ideas in simple terms to all levels of the business.
- Collaboration: A strong ability to work cross-functionally and build relationships with key areas to drive forward the self serve strategy through communication of the vision, influence of resourcing and prioritization, and alignment of team activities with enterprise strategy.
- Innovation: Curiosity and innovative thinking, challenging the status quo to discover and implement new, more effective ways of working within FP&A and uncovering business insights from data.
- Experience: A minimum of 7-10 years working in a relevant field with 5+ years in a leadership role is preferred.
