We are looking for a Senior Automation Test Engineer with strong Java Programming skills to design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks. The role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining automated test cases for our banking clients. The ideal candidate should be passionate about quality, automation best practices, and continuous improvement in the testing lifecycle.

In this role, you will

Implement and maintain automation frameworks using tools like Playwright and Selenium. Maintain and enhance the Selenium Cucumber BDD framework by creating reusable methods, utilities, and supporting components. Automating UI and API test scenarios to improve test coverage, accuracy, and execution efficiency. Conduct API testing using REST Assured, ReadyAPI, REST/SOAP services. Build and maintain robust API test automation frameworks using Rest Assured. Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, test results, and test reports, ensuring traceability between requirements, changes, and test outcomes. Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions). Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high-quality software solutions. Work with stakeholders across different teams to understand requirements, gather feedback, and ensure alignment on automation goals.

Required Skills

Overall 6-10years of experience in software Quality Assurance and Automation for banking projects. Minimum 5 years of hands-on automation experience using Java, Selenium, Junit, TestNG, Maven, BDD Cucumber framework. Must be proficient in Java (OOPs, Collections, Multithreading, Exception Handling) and modern Java versions (8+). Must have good experience with Rest Assured for API automation testing. CI/CD pipeline building experience through GITLAB, Jenkins, or Maven. Experience with bug tracking and test management tools like JIRA, TestRail, or Zephyr.

Preferred Skills

Automation framework development from scratch. Banking domain experience is highly preferred. Knowledge of AI-driven testing tools.

Total Compensation

We regularly assess market data to ensure we offer a competitive compensation package for our associates. The base salary for this position ranges between CAD 70,000 – 90,000 per year. Where the successful candidate may fall within the range depends on relevant education, work and/or management experience and other business-related and job-necessary qualifications. This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual performance-based bonus, as well as benefits that support your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.

Working arrangements

We believe hybrid work is the way forward as we strive to provide flexibility wherever possible. Based on this role’s business requirements, this is a hybrid position requiring 4 days a week in a client or Cognizant office in Toronto, ON.
