Role Summary
LPMI is seeking a Microsoft Teams Telephony & Unified Communications Engineer to lead enterprise-level Teams Voice design and implementation projects.
You’ll architect and deploy modern telephony solutions leveraging Teams, Direct Routing, Operator Connect, and Microsoft 365, helping organizations transform their communications environments.
This is a hands-on, client-facing, part-time contract role ideal for a self-driven engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and collaborating with senior telecom architects.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Implementation
Architect and deploy Microsoft Teams telephony solutions (Direct Routing, Operator Connect, and Calling Plans).
Configure and manage Session Border Controllers (SBCs), dial plans, call routing, Auto Attendants, Call Queues, and Teams-certified devices.
Integrate 3rd-party SIP devices via SIP Gateway and configure Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR).
M365 Administration
Administer and secure M365 services (Teams, Exchange, and Azure AD).
Manage Conditional Access Policies, licensing, and device compliance.
Migration & Deployment
Develop and execute migration strategies from legacy PBXs to Microsoft Teams Voice.
Lead deployment, validation, and user acceptance testing with minimal user disruption.
Automation & Troubleshooting
Use PowerShell and Microsoft Graph API for automation and configuration management.
Diagnose and resolve complex Teams telephony and unified communications issues.
Maintain knowledge of networking fundamentals including subnetting, VLANs, routing, SD-WAN, and firewalls.
Documentation & Testing
Create detailed as-built diagrams, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides.
Develop and execute structured test plans and support user acceptance testing.
Qualifications
Required:
3–5 years of experience in Microsoft 365 administration and Teams telephony implementations.
Proven expertise with Teams Direct Routing, SBCs, and voicemail integration.
Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and Microsoft Graph API.
Experience migrating from legacy or hybrid PBX systems to Teams.
Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
Preferred:
Microsoft certifications: MS-700, MS-720, or MS-721.
Familiarity with network design and vendor management.
Knowledge of SD-WAN, VLAN segmentation, and routing protocols.
