Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Microsoft Teams Telephony & Unified Communications Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and management of our customers migrations to M365 and Teams as their primary telephony platform.
This role demands strong collaboration and communication with internal teams, customers, and partners, serving as a subject matter expert. You will adapt your style to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders, navigate complex interactions, and demonstrate leadership in both team and client environments.
Key Responsibilities
Teams Telephony Design and Implementation:
Design, plan, and configure Microsoft Teams telephony solutions, including Direct Routing and calling plans.
Configure and manage Session Border Controllers (SBCs) to ensure seamless connectivity.
Develop and implement dial plans and call routing strategies.
Configure, manage and maintain Teams devices
Design and configure Auto Attendants and Call Queues
Implement 3rd party SIP devices via SIP Gateway
Design and configure Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR)
M365 Administration and Management:
Administer and maintain the M365 environment, focusing on Teams, Exchange, and related services.
Experience with Conditional Access Policies and Device Compliance
Manage user accounts, licenses, and permissions within the M365 ecosystem.
Technical Expertise:
Utilize PowerShell and Microsoft Graph to automate tasks, manage configurations, and extract data.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to Teams telephony and unified communications.
Maintain a strong understanding of telecommunications protocols and standards.
A comprehensive understanding of subnetting, VLAN segmentation, and routing protocols
Knowledge of SD WAN and Firewalls is desirable
Migration and Deployment:
Develop and execute migration strategies for transitioning from legacy phone systems to Teams telephony.
Conduct thorough testing and create comprehensive test plans to ensure successful deployments.
Manage the deployment of Teams telephony solutions, minimizing disruption to users.
Documentation:
Prepare detailed as-built diagrams and comprehensive documentation of the Teams telephony environment.
Create and maintain up-to-date documentation for configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
Testing:
Craft test plans for all aspects of the Teams phone system.
Carry out all aspects of testing, including the support of user acceptance testing.
Qualifications
3-5 years of experience in M365 administration and Teams telephony implementations.
Proven expertise in designing, configuring, and managing Teams Direct Routing and SBCs.
Strong knowledge of Exchange voicemail integration with Teams.
Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and Microsoft Graph API.
Experience with migrating legacy phone systems to Teams telephony.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience creating detailed documentation.
Preferred Skills
Microsoft certifications (MS-700, MS-720, MS-721).
Vendor management experience and working with partners when developing solutions on behalf of our customers
Knowledge of network infrastructure and protocols.
