Job Description:
We are looking for a skilled High-Rise Fire Stopping Technician to install and maintain fire stopping materials and systems in high-rise construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of fire safety codes, and proficiency in applying fire-resistant products to prevent the spread of fire and smoke.

What Will You Do?
- Install fire stopping materials such as fire-rated sealants, sprays, boards, and wraps around penetrations and joints in walls, floors, ceilings, and ductwork on high-rise buildings.
- Read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, fire safety plans, and specifications to ensure proper placement of fire stopping systems.
- Ensure all fire stopping work complies with local building codes, fire regulations, and industry standards.
- Perform inspections and testing of installed fire stopping systems to verify integrity and compliance.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other trades to coordinate fire stopping activities within the construction schedule.
- Maintain accurate records of materials used, work performed, and inspections conducted.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols, including fall protection measures and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Identify and report any safety hazards, material shortages, or installation issues promptly.
What You Bring:
- Proven experience in fire stopping installation, preferably in high-rise construction environments.
- Familiarity with fire protection codes, standards and BC building codes.
- Ability to work at significant heights using scaffolding, lifts, and fall arrest systems.
- Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Ability to identify different materials and the corresponding assembly requirements.
- Physical capability to perform manual labor, including lifting and working in confined spaces.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
- Relevant certifications in fire stopping, safety, or construction trades preferred.
Salary Range:
$60,000 - $65,000
