Senior Manager, Engineering - BC Place

BC Place is getting ready for its busiest year yet in 2026. We are hiring a Senior Manager, Engineering Department who is both results and relationship oriented. We require a leader who prioritizes efficiency while ensuring their team feels fulfilled and motivated. Experience in electrical engineering or as a Journeyman Electrician is highly valuable, as the Senior Manager will be responsible for overseeing the stadium’s complex power systems and ensuring all technical operations run safely and reliably.
In the fast-paced environment of a stadium, even minor oversights can lead to significant consequences. Attention to detail is crucial for the Senior Manager to identify potential issues before they escalate. Whether monitoring facility maintenance, reviewing event setups, or managing electrical and mechanical systems, a keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of facility management are essential for ensuring a flawless experience for spectators and staff alike.
Reporting to the Director, Facility Operations, the Senior Manager typically works Monday to Friday , from 7am to 3:30pm . Given that BC Place is a sports and entertainment venue, the Senior Manager will be required to work at certain events during the year. As required, the Senior Manager will support the stadium through on-call availability for emergency callouts.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Responsible for the development, implementation and management of all work policies and procedures related to facility maintenance while supporting the conversion team.
- Oversight of the creation and completion of work orders for the engineering team.
- Presents and prepares daily activities during daily work order meetings.
- Works closely with Capital Project team to ensure project work does not disrupt daily operations.
- Provides support, coordinating schedules and trade requirements for non-capital related projects.
- Ensure policies and procedures are followed in a safe manner and in compliance with WorkSafe BC regulations.
- Serve as the face of facility management for clients, event managers, the public and staff.
- Ensure client requests and event requirements are dealt with in a professional manner and consistent with BC Place values.
- Act as the direct liaison between BC Place and the sports clubs (Lions and Whitecaps) with respect to their field of play requirements.
- Assist in recruitment and hiring with People & Culture team.
- Review and analyze the requirement and deployment of technical services staff in conjunction with conversions.
- Collaborate with other leaders and team, consistent with BC Place values ensure effective, open, and timely communication and optimal stadium operations.
- Work with Procurement regarding the acquisition of materials, parts, and tools for efficient and timely work execution by meeting with and acting as technical advisor with suppliers as necessary.
- Supports the team with manufacturers and suppliers on warranties, service contracts, after sales support, and manufacturer safety recommendations, etc.
- Develop and maintain accurate and accessible records, reports, and related drawings.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
- Completion of post-secondary education and training in Building or Facility Management or completion of a post-secondary diploma/certificate in an Interprovincial trade, or equivalent combination of training, knowledge and experience.
- An electrical engineering degree is considered an asset, as is relevant trade experience, preferably in the electrical field
- Minimum 5 to 7 years’ management experience in a large facility.
- Experience supervising in a unionized work environment and administration of collective agreements is preferred.
- Sound working knowledge of a wide variety of standard software applications, internet communications and research including Momentus (EBMS), ABI, and Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with health and safety regulations including WorkSafe BC.
- Knowledge of collective agreement administration, grievance handling, labour management.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to prioritize conflicting requirements in a timely manner
- High-degree of resiliency and is motivated by challenging situations.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet tight timelines and to respond to pressing issues.
