Job Description

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for performing assigned HVAC Mechanic tasks throughout the hospital as well as maintenance duties throughout the hospital facilities, according to policies, procedures, legislated codes and regulations to support a functional, reliable, safe and comfortable health care environment. Attention to detail and commitment to complete tasks while not compromising quality.
  • The principal duties are to troubleshoot, repair, replace and install any direct expansion refrigeration and air conditioning equipment such as fridges, freezers, ice machines, water coolers, air dryers, split AC units, and cooling systems of medical equipment throughout the hospital including kitchen, retail space, lab and patient treatment areas. In addition, a primary focus will be to carry out planned and demand maintenance on equipment and update CMMS

Educational Requirements

  • Minimum grade 12 education
  • Successful graduate of Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning Technician diploma program or equivalent with courses in Refrigeration, HVAC, Electricity, Mechanics and CAD/Blue print reading.
  • Valid 313A License and ODP certification required

Qualifications

  • Completion of an Apprenticeship program preferred
  • Ability to make decisions on proper use of material and means of effecting repairs
  • Flexibility to work all shifts on a rotating basis
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Work effectively in a team environment
  • Satisfactory attendance and performance record required
