Community Planner, Development HAF (Contract up to 12-Months)
About the role
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Manager, Housing Accelerator Fund, this role is responsible for independently managing housing policy projects and programs, undertaking research and analysis, and preparing and presenting reports related to housing initiatives. You will support the advancement of all housing types, including affordable housing, through policy development, program delivery and stakeholder engagement. You will be responsible for liaising with internal and external partners, leading engagement initiatives, and representing the Town on housing-related matters.
As the Community Planner, Housing Accelerator Fund, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:

Manage housing policy projects and programs, including affordable housing initiatives and incentive programs

Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to advance housing objectives aligned with the Town’s Official Plan

Lead engagement and communication initiatives to support uptake of housing programs and policies

Prepare and present reports, briefing notes, by-laws and recommendations to Council

Represent the Town at public meetings, engagement sessions and the Ontario Land Tribunal
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a knowledgeable and collaborative professional with a post-secondary degree in Planning, Urban Studies or a closely related field. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of three (3) years of related experience in land use or policy planning, including research, project administration, public consultation and public speaking experience, and is a Registered Professional Planner (RPP) with CIP or OPPI.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience interpreting and applying planning legislation and advancing policy initiatives. We are seeking an individual with superior analytical and problem-solving skills, a demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
The successful candidate for Community Planner, Housing Accelerator Fund will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required).
This position offers a hourly pay rate range of $58.49 to $73.11 plus a competitive benefit package.
Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
