The opportunity:
Reporting to the IT Infrastructure Lead, the Application Support Analyst will provide end-to-end management and technical support for enterprise and third-party applications within RFHS. The incumbent will troubleshoot complex issues, oversee software deployment and integration, conduct regular maintenance, and ensure applications operate securely and efficiently. The role includes supporting IT infrastructure such as Windows Server environments, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy, as well as hybrid systems using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), Intune, and Azure. The successful candidate will also assist with application performance monitoring, capacity planning, and system optimization initiatives, contributing to the continuous improvement of IT operations across the faculty.
This position plays a key role in supporting users by responding to service requests, managing incidents, and providing training and documentation to ensure effective use of technology resources. The incumbent will collaborate with colleagues, vendors, and research teams to evaluate and implement software tools, enhance application reliability, and support specialized research needs. In addition, the Application Support Analyst will contribute to project planning, automation initiatives, and the evaluation of emerging technologies that strengthen the Faculty’s IT infrastructure.
The qualifications and experience we’re looking for:
- Delivers all aspects of production support for various applications along with some 3rd party vendor products, including incident resolution or proactive mitigation, change and problem management.
- Handles incoming application support requests/incidents via a ticketing system and keep a high level of satisfaction from internal customers.
- Maintains application support processes, using application management software and tools to investigate issues, collect performance statistics and create reports.
- Manages and maintain Cloud Infrastructure and ensure compliance to all agreed SLAs and requirements.
- Actives involvement in and ownership of Support Project items, covering Stability, Efficiency, and Effectiveness initiatives.
- Develops testing requirements, testing plans and conduct testing for both sustainment and enhancement work.
- Participates in application releases, from development, testing and deployment into production, perform post release evaluation after and maintain technical support documentation.
- Develops a strategy to show how applications collectively contribute to achieving organizational goals and consider implications of the application of technology to the current RFHS environment.
- Prepares reports for management stating trends, patterns, and predictions using relevant data, interpreting data, analyzing results using statistical techniques.
- Learns and become a super user of various business applications and configure business analytic tools/reporting across the organization
- Interacts and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure value-added products and services.
- Analyzes applications to identify risks, vulnerabilities and security issues.
- Leads business requirement gathering for application requirement and configure/implement the change where possible.
- Develops training plans and resources for new users, update training materials to reflect the latest application updates.
- Coordinates and provide various methods of training to users via online sessions, pre-recorded and documented Standard Operating Procedures (SOP),
- Conducts share and learn sessions, Use stakeholder communication plan and other relevant strategies for management communication.
- Works with system administrators, database admin and management leads to identify process improvement opportunities
- Proposes system modification and devise data governance strategies.
- Develops and implements data analyses, data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
- Reviews, evaluates, and assists in the acquisition of new software as needed to enhance and improve research.
- Assists in implementing new or recommended changes to existing research applications, policies and procedures.
- Assists the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences and researchers in the application of software for research innovations.
- Assists in the evaluation of future technology needs by Rady Faculty of Health Sciences faculty, researchers, and clinicians.
- Conducts gap analysis and capture requirements in RFHS software application development.
- Adheres to ongoing deadlines and manages competing interests.
- Remains current in web application and database technology, computers, and related technologies
- Attends meetings, courses, conferences, and information sessions and by reading industry publications.
- Maintains current information on viruses and other operating systems supporting deployed applications.
- Stays informed of computing resources available at the University of Manitoba.
- Assists other RADY IT staff during peak periods and absences.
- May be required to perform related duties not exceeding skills and capabilities as required.
