Title: Nurse Coordinator, Communicable Disease Control (CDC)-(STBBI)
Salary: $102,490 - $125,736 per year (pay range explained below)
Contract: Term – until March 20, 2026
Hours: 37.5 (core hours Mon-Fri 9am-3pm)
Location: Sinclair office (Metro Vancouver) - on the ancestral Coast Salish Territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations – Hybrid (Hybrid working is an option in line with FNHA’s flex work policy).
Bargaining Unit: PIPSC BCFNHA Group (Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada)
About the role
As the Nurse Coordinator, Communicable Disease Control (CDC), you will plan, coordinate, and evaluate clinical public health services in Communicable Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) programs and initiatives for First Nations communities. You will provide expertise and advice in the coordination and design of FNHA CDC programs and activities. You will also participate with other CDC Coordinators in planning, implementing, coordinating, and conducting orientation and in-service development of FNHA and First Nations staff. As well as you will identify and address training needs relating to the targeted CDC area such as harm reduction, education, care and support, and enhanced screening. FNHA is seeking a nurse who is a leader and passionate about public health, harm reduction, and working in partnership with First Nations communities. This role will specifically support the advancement of Sexually Transmitted and Blood-Borne Infections (STBBI) programming grounded in cultural safety, community strengths, and indigenous wellness. If you are looking for a role that offers a meaningful opportunity to work in partnership with First Nations communities to strengthen culturally safe communicable disease programming and to mentor and guide others. About you
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a recognized university or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Successful completion of approved training in public health nursing or communicable disease control (CDC) training
Occupational Certification
- Current practicing registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
Experience
- Three to Five (3-5) years of experience in public health nursing or communicable disease control
Knowledge
- Knowledge of, and ability to apply, an understanding of First Nations cultural principles and protocols in work situations
- Knowledge of the planning, coordination, and delivery of public health programs with particular strengths in communicable disease control and prevention
- Knowledge and skills in one or more focus area within communicable disease prevention programs, such as STI/BBP/Harm Reduction, TB or Immunization
- Knowledge of nursing which includes the nursing process, conceptual frameworks of nursing, theories, and principles of nursing practice
- Knowledge of advanced clinical nursing practice for the development of policies or guidelines to support the delivery of CD treatment services, including current clinical treatment practices, principles, techniques, disease symptoms, and outbreak indicators
- Knowledge and the application of concepts, principles, and theories of trans-cultural nursing, including knowledge of traditional, homeopathic or other health practices used in the community
