The Opportunity

Deveraux Developments is seeking aSenior Accountantto join our expanding finance team in Calgary. Reporting to the Controller, Deveraux Developments, and also working closely with the Vice-President, Finance and Accounting, this newly created role reflects the evolving needs of our growing organization. This new role provides you the opportunity to build your own path and help shape the future of our finance team.

This role combines core accounting responsibilities with a strong focus on finance systems, reporting, and process improvement. The Senior Accountant will split their time between supporting day-to-day accounting and reporting for Deveraux Developments and related project entities and contributing to finance systems and process improvement initiatives. These initiatives include enhancing reporting tools and workflows, improving the finance team’s use of existing technologies, and supporting the implementation of new technologies and systems, including the evaluation and transition to a future accounting platform.

What you bring...

  • CPA designation
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in public accounting or the construction industry
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail
  • Advanced Excel skills, including building automated reports, financial models, and tools that support management reporting and forecasting
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with a proactive and solution-oriented approach
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Construction, development, or project-based accounting experience is an asse

You will...

  • Support financial reporting through accounting tasks, including preparation and review of journal entries, invoicing, reconciliations and sales tax filings
  • Contribute to the preparation of annual financial statements, tax filings, and audit deliverables across a growing portfolio of development entities
  • Serve as a finance lead for Procore and related system integrations, supporting financial workflows and helping optimize financial processes, reporting, and project-level visibility
  • Lead initiatives to automate processes, simplify workflows, and leverage technology to improve the efficiency and scalability of the finance function
  • Design and enhance financial models, dashboards, and reporting tools that support forecasting, project monitoring, and strategic planning
  • Support the evaluation and eventual transition to a future accounting system
  • Prepare ad hoc reporting and analysis to support business needs, as assigned
  • Provide coverage and support to other finance team members
  • Other duties as assigned
