Job Description

The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for selling, servicing, managing and growing our local catering business, and managing small to medium size programs. This role requires strong client relationship skills, and event coordination expertise.

What you will be doing:

  • Offer consistent professional, friendly, and engaging service, ensuring prompt and courteous support to both internal and external contacts

  • Solicit and engage with new business and clients while maintaining existing relationships and securing re-bookings for future functions and events

  • Prepare customized proposals and contracts tailored to meet client needs and expectations

  • Create, maintain, and manage strong, positive relationships with all guests and vendors

  • Organize and conduct creative site visits and planning meetings in a professional manner, addressing the needs of conferences and events while showcasing the hotel and its offerings

  • Confirm and review guestroom requirements and event/function details with clients ahead of arrival

  • Create internal communications including group resumes, banquet event orders (BEOs), and rooming lists

  • Collaborate closely with departments such as Front Office, Banquets, Culinary, Housekeeping, and Audio Visual to ensure accurate information sharing and seamless execution

  • Manage on-site programming and group events based on provided schedules and specifications

  • Accurately input and maintain all group, meeting, and event information in internal systems

  • Manage billing, deposits, and payments in accordance with company policies and client agreements

Qualifications

  • Previous catering/sales experience, with at least 1 years' experience, in a similar setting is required

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, both written and verbal is essential, with the ability to build relationships and rapport seamlessly

  • Proven ability to problem-solve, interact with many moving parts and interact with various areas throughout the hotel

  • Demonstrated customer service skills with the ability to focus attention on guest needs while remaining calm and professional at all times

  • Ability to work well under pressure while handling short lead times when necessary

  • High attention to detail to ensure accuracy at all times

  • Ability to work a variety of shifts and days of the week, including evenings and weekends, as it relates to the event business requirements

  • Diploma / Degree in a related field is an asset
