About the role
Our client, a well-established and growing company in the construction materials industry, is seeking a Safety Administrator to support and coordinate the day-to-day administration of its Health & Safety program. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working behind the scenes to ensure safety documentation, training, and compliance processes are organized and up to date.
Working closely with the Health & Safety Manager and Operations team, you will play an important role in maintaining records, coordinating safety initiatives, and supporting a strong safety culture across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and organize all Health & Safety documentation and employee records. Coordinate new hire safety orientations and ensure all required paperwork is completed. Track employee certifications, training, and expiry dates, ensuring renewals are scheduled. Maintain training matrices and monitor compliance with mandatory safety requirements. Assist with the administration of WorkSafeBC claims and return-to-work documentation. Prepare and maintain incident, injury, and near-miss reports. Assist with workplace incident investigations and corrective action tracking. Coordinate Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings, including agendas, minutes, and action items. Conduct administrative follow-up from workplace inspections and safety audits. Maintain safety policies, procedures, Safe Work Practices (SWPs), and Safe Job Procedures (SJPs). Assist with COR program administration and audit preparation. Ensure SDS (Safety Data Sheets) are current and properly maintained. Order and monitor PPE inventory and other safety supplies. Prepare monthly safety reports, statistics, and compliance documentation. Support managers with safety-related documentation and regulatory requirements. Assist in promoting employee participation in company safety initiatives.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in a Health & Safety Administrative or Coordinator role. Experience working in construction, manufacturing, aggregates, transportation, or another industrial environment is preferred. Working knowledge of WorkSafeBC legislation and Occupational Health & Safety regulations. Experience maintaining safety documentation and employee training records. Familiarity with COR (Certificate of Recognition) programs is considered an asset. Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety is an asset but not required. Excellent organizational and document management skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
