As a Manager, Valuations your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage and be hands-on in the execution of valuation engagements.
  • Attend and lead meetings with clients and their advisors to understand and analyze their business
  • Drafting and reviewing valuation reports for the purposes of shareholder transactions, corporate reorganizations, income tax planning, and financial reporting
  • Undertaking qualitative and quantitative analyses to develop and validate solutions
  • Analyzing financial statements and other financial information
  • Conducting industry and market research
  • Researching public companies to develop peer group valuations
  • Performing comparable transaction analysis
  • Building detailed valuation and financial models including sensitivity analysis
  • Assist in litigation matters including the performance of financial analysis and preparation of expert valuation or damage quantification reports in connection with shareholder disputes, post-acquisition disputes, breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duties
  • Collaborating with service lines within Doane Grant Thornton in the execution of valuation mandates (e.g. Tax, Assurance)
  • Involvement in the development of best practices within the group and administrative duties
  • Active participation in the development and growth of our Valuations and Litigation service offering

Think you’ve got what it takes to be a Manager, Valuations? Like the colour purple? Great. Here's a few more boxes we’re also hoping you can tick:

  • Completion of a university degree and Professional Accounting Designation (CPA)
  • Completion of a CBV designation required.
  • Minimum 1+ years post-designation in the Valuations field
  • Strong financial analysis skills and understanding of financial statements as well as solid financial modeling capabilities
  • Proven problem-solver with solid analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to generate creative solutions to abstract or undefined problems
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize multiple engagements and work effectively under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to earn the trust and confidence of clients and colleagues at all levels and influence decision-makers
  • Team player with ability to rally resources and work with others to meet the needs and exceed the expectations of clients
  • Ability to establish and develop meaningful business relationships with colleagues, clients and in the marketplace, based on strong rapport, trust and respect, in support of growing the practice
  • Strong management and leadership skills, especially in the areas of project management, multi-team management, coaching and development of team members
  • Ability to execute on deliverables in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment and work beyond standard business hours as business needs require.
  • Willingness to work through peak periods, as required
  • A strong desire to help clients succeed in all aspects of their operations
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team, seeing a project from start to finish
  • The ability to talk to and meet with people at various levels throughout an organization from a client service and business development perspective
  • Enthusiasm for helping the valuation and litigation support practice grow
