Position Overview:
General Fusion’s technology development program relies on the rapid prototyping and testing of large- scale, energetic systems. General Fusion maintains a dynamic, multi-disciplinary prototype and testing laboratory for this purpose.
Working out of our Richmond Lab and Office location the Logistics & Lab Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day shipping, receiving, warehousing, and inventory control activities in a unique, high-tech research and development environment. This is a regular, full-time position, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
You must be capable of building and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders alike. This is a hands-on role that requires an individual who can work independently, while providing a high level of service for the teams they support. This role requires an individual who can operate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Arrange shipments and deliveries; schedule and monitor transportation with carriers
- Receive products and deliveries, including offloading trucks and trailers
- Safely pack products and other items for shipment
- Prepare and review shipping documentation (BOLs, invoices, packing lists, etc.) and maintain accurate shipment and inventory records in the ERP system
- Verify deliveries for accuracy, quantity, and condition; perform basic quality control inspections to identify visible discrepancies
- Communicate with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely shipments
- Coordinate with suppliers to arrange returns and manage claims with carriers and vendors as needed
- Collaborate with accounting to track transportation costs and support cost efficiency
- Identify opportunities to improve logistics reliability and operational efficiency
- Maintain inventory of consumables such as fasteners, fittings, tooling, and process gases
- Coordinate with the Production Team to manage and maintain inventory of compressed gases, ensuring timely ordering and delivery to support operational needs
- Maintain the lab and warehouse to ensure a safe and efficient work environment
- Perform additional duties as required, including procuring on-demand materials, supporting the technical team, and conducting basic equipment checks
Relevant Skills and Experience:
Required:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a warehouse or industrial environment, including shipping and receiving
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Basic computer literacy (online ordering, shipping, and receiving systems)
- Ability to build relationships and contribute to a team-oriented environment
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong multitasking skills with the ability to manage frequent interruptions and shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to learn new skills and processes
- Ability to lift up to 20 kg
Preferred:
- Experience as a technician in a technology development environment
- Materials management experience
- Familiarity with TDG / IATA transportation regulations
- Basic mechanical knowledge
- Experience with fabrication, carpentry, machining, or assembly
- Forklift (SDCB) certification or experience (training provided)
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Experience with NetSuite ERP
The typical hiring range for this position is $48,000 - $58,000. General Fusion considers many factors when determining total compensation include job specific or highly specialized knowledge, skills and experience, proficiency, job location and internal equity.
