Position Summary
Centennial College is seeking a dynamic Alumni Officer to work within assigned school(s) to promote and deliver alumni engagement services and initiatives in alignment with the Office of Development & Alumni Engagement business plan and departmental goals for overall alumni engagement. This role includes outreach to the current student population, with a particular focus on graduating students.

The Alumni Officer is responsible for executing a school-specific engagement strategy that includes targeted communication touchpoints and a variety of events designed to increase alumni awareness, participation, and connection to the College. The role also includes responsibility for revenue generation through affinity partnerships, including corporate discounts, offers, and sponsorships, with annual financial accountability.

In addition, the Alumni Officer will support College-wide alumni events and initiatives and serve as the lead for annual Alumni Signature Events. In this capacity, the Alumni Officer acts as the primary point of contact with the Events Shared Services team, coordinating planning, logistics, and event-related requirements to ensure successful delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Deans, Associate Deans, faculty, and staff to deliver alumni engagement initiatives within assigned school(s).

  • Develop and execute school-specific alumni engagement plans, including implementation of the Alumni Touch Campaign (minimum of 12 touches per year per school).

  • Serve as a visible, on-campus presence (minimum two days per week), immersing in the life of assigned school(s) to identify alumni engagement opportunities.

  • Plan and support alumni events, including reunions, third-party events, and College-wide initiatives; serve as lead for annual Alumni Signature Events in collaboration with the Events Shared Services team.

  • Strengthen the student-to-alumni pipeline through classroom visits and outreach to graduating students, promoting lifelong connection to the College.

  • Engage alumni through one-on-one meetings, stewardship activities, and outreach events; support nomination processes for Premier Awards and Alumni of Distinction.

  • Represent the Office of Development & Alumni Engagement at internal, community, and industry events.

  • Generate revenue through new affinity partnerships, securing a minimum of $15,000 annually, and manage related relationships.

  • Maintain accurate alumni and affinity partner records in Raiser’s Edge NXT, including moves management.

  • Manage assigned budgets and prepare regular reports on engagement activities, outcomes, and expenditures.

  • Evening and weekend work required for events, as needed.

  • Other duties as required when assigned by the Director and/or Manager; including travel to other campus locations and event sites

Qualifications/Experience
Education

  • Three (3)-year diploma or degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Field of study in Sales, Marketing, Public Relations, Community Services, Business Administration, Client/Student/Alumni Relations, Community Development, or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in alumni relations, community engagement, student engagement, or a related role involving outreach, relationship management, and event coordination.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and delivering events in collaboration with other teams (e.g., community events, stakeholder meetings, reunions, or large-scale/signature events), including logistics and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience engaging diverse stakeholder groups, such as students, alumni, faculty, community partners, donors, or member-based organizations.
  • Strong customer service experience, including responding to inquiries, providing information, and building trusted relationships.
  • Experience using CRM or database systems to track engagement, moves management, or partnerships (e.g., Raiser’s Edge NXT or equivalent).

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal, public speaking, and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated professionalism, diplomacy, and ability to work collaboratively and inclusively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Strong organizational, planning, evaluation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities aligned with operational objectives.

  • Proven leadership skills and a strong commitment to teamwork.

  • Experience working with volunteer committees/groups is considered an asset.

  • Knowledge of the postsecondary sector, including employment trends, marketing techniques, and the Canadian labour market.

  • Experience working effectively in diverse environments; experience supporting international or internationally trained students is considered an asset.
