Wood's Homes is a not-for-profit mental health centre based in Calgary, with locations across Alberta. Wood’s Homes is a nationally recognized children’s mental health center, providing services to support children, youth and families since 1914. We are currently seeking Contracted Respite House Parents for our Wheatland Program in Strathmore, Alberta.
Role:
You will play a pivotal role in supporting youth living in one of our therapeutic homes. This position provides relief to permanent caregivers for a few days each month, with the possibility of extended terms during the summer. You will provide a positive, structured, and caring environment for 4–5 youth, supported by a professional staff team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide care, supervision, and a supportive environment for youth.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children and youth in the home.
- Contribute to a positive and therapeutic environment based on trauma-informed care.
- Collaborate with program staff and caregivers to maintain consistency of care.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children and youth, particularly those with trauma or complex needs.
- Understanding of trauma-informed and therapeutic care practices.
- Willingness to provide live-in care during respite periods.
- Personal suitability is essential; training and support will be provided.
Contract Details:
- Contracted, live-in respite role.
- A few days each month, with longer terms available during the summer.
- Homes located in Strathmore, Alberta.
