About the Position

BAR is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join our Buildings Division. Our Engineers lead projects from conception to completion while fostering lasting client relationships. They are responsible for maintaining engineering standards for work product and providing technical expertise in all facets of project design and implementation. Leadership and supervision of other engineers and technologists is an imperative aspect of this position. More specifically, your duties and responsibilities will be to:

  • Plan, schedule, organize, direct, control and evaluate projects from start to finish.
  • Maintain timelines and budgets to meet overall project requirements.
  • Prepare and manage changes on engineering deliverables.
  • Prepare engineering proposal and contract documents.
  • Ensure designs conform to applicable codes, standards, regulations, specifications, and procedures with client requirements and cost estimates.
  • Complete field activities including building condition assessments, general reviews, completion reports and final documentation during construction.
  • Liaison with client representatives, assignment of work to team members and coordination between disciplines.
  • Provide leadership and supervision within the team.
  • Conduct business development activities and build client relationships.

About the Candidate

You will need a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 4-7 years of experience and registered with APEGA or APEGS.
Other qualifications:

  • Experience with design of buildings electrical systems including electrical service & distribution, power and data systems, lighting systems, emergency lighting, fire alarm systems, security systems, etc.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and codes including the National Building Code and Canadian Electrical Code
  • Experience with building design software such as Revit and AGi32 is considered an asset.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively with colleagues.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A hands-on approach to problem-solving and an eagerness to learn.
  • Valid driver’s licence with clean driver’s abstract.
