About the role

SMS Equipment is looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join our Finance team. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing, reconciliation, and reporting of financial transactions while collaborating with internal stakeholders and vendors.

Work Location: Acheson, Alberta. Salary: Competitive. Work Arrangement: Hybrid – providing the flexibility to work remotely up to 2 days per week. Schedule: Monday to Friday.   What You'll Do:

  • Process a high volume of invoices with accuracy and efficiency
  • Verify general ledger account coding and ensure proper expense allocation
  • Review and code employee expense reports
  • Process vendor payments including cheque runs (CAD and USD) and wire transfers
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of vendor accounts and general ledger accounts
  • Reconcile general ledger to subledger and clearing accounts
  • Respond to vendor inquiries via phone, email, and other communication channels
  • Collaborate with accounting staff and branch teams to resolve discrepancies and provide information
  • Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with company policies and procedures

What You Bring: The successful candidate will have 2–3 years of experience in a high-volume, fast-paced Accounts Payable environment, along with strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. You are comfortable working collaboratively as part of a team and can effectively manage competing priorities.   Other requirements include:

  • Post-secondary education in accounting (preferred)
  • Strong Excel and keyboarding skills
  • Effective time management and prioritization abilities
  • Customer service experience and a collaborative mindset
  • Previous administrative experience is considered an asset
  • Bilingualism is an asset

This position is classified as an Individual Contributor role in SMS Equipment’s competency framework, requiring demonstration of core competencies (customer focus, collaboration, and technical/functional expertise).
