About the role

Role overview and purpose:

Do you have a passion for entrepreneurship and marketing? Come join our team! Having launched 1,000 alumni and scaled 500+ ventures, NEXT Canada’s mission is to uncover the next generation of entrepreneurs by providing them with access to education, mentorship and networking.

The successful candidate will collaborate with our marketing/operations team and support day-to-day operations. Through this internship, you will gain experience in marketing, publishing, social media, as well as database management and metrics. It is an opportunity to contribute to maintaining and growing our brand reach and engagement.

Please note, this is a 4-month internship with the opportunity to extend for an additional term.

We host evening events so flexible hours are required.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist in marketing and advertising promotional activities across all our owned channels
  • Ideate and prepare content for NEXT Canada social media channels (LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube), and monitor community engagement across all channels
  • Under the guidance of our marketing department, develop creative content for NEXT Canada social media. Content types to include: copy, design, graphics and videos
  • Help with office operations and Salesforce database management as well as data migration and metrics.
  • Monitor the impact of each owned channel and ensure effective tracking and reporting of targeted marketing efforts
  • Assist with event planning and execution of internal and external initiatives. Flexible hours may be required for events.
  • Broader work or accountabilities with other internal teams may be assigned as needed
  • Oversee front desk operations to ensure a welcoming and organized environment for visitors and team members.
  • Manage and track company swag inventory, coordinating distribution and restocking to support marketing campaigns and promotional events.
  • Support the planning, setup, and execution of internal and external events, ensuring all logistical elements are efficiently handled for successful outcomes.
  • Handle the ordering and inventory management of office supplies, ensuring the workspace remains well-equipped and operational needs are consistently met.
  • Implement website enhancements and updates as needed (Wordpress).

Desired skills and qualifications:

  • Demonstrated interest in marketing and passion for entrepreneurship
  • Well-versed with social media and experience with content creation a plus, even if not professionally.
  • Familiarity with marketing software and online applications (ie. Google Analytics, Canva, Mailchimp, Adobe Suite, etc)
  • Experience with creating engaging videos and video editing.
  • Experience with Salesforce and Airtable preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency working in a Mac environment and Google e-suite
  • Flexible, adaptable and collaborative team player
  • Strong organization and planning skills
