Job Description Position Purpose summary: Boundless Vancouver organizes The Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Toy Shop and Donation Coordinator works on our team to set up and manage the Toy Shop for its duration, organizing and overseeing Toy Shop volunteers, and procuring and coordinating donations for the Toy Shop and various toy drives.

KEY Accountabilities

  • Set up our temporary Toy Shop with help from the seasonal Christmas team and volunteers for welcoming families to a dignified, supportive and fun Christmas experience.
  • Ensure donated Toy Shop items (toys, books etc.) are stocked daily and stored securely.
  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator to define, promote, and manage volunteer opportunities prior to and for the duration of the Christmas Toy Shop.
  • Orientate and supervise Toy Shop volunteers while they are deployed to their positions.
  • Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community.
  • Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s).
  • May collaborate and help coordinate with divisional team for toy drives.
  • Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution, as needed.
  • Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts and maintain a positive relationship with donors.
  • Keep accurate records of Toy Shop inventory at the end of the season.
  • Pack up, clean up and store all items from Toy Shop after it has concluded.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

  • A clear vulnerable sector screening.
  • Completion of online abuse prevention training.
  • Required Health and Safety training.

Managerial Responsibility

  • Reports directly to Corps Officer
  • Direct reports: Volunteers

Financial And Materials Management

  • Responsibly manage valuables/assets such as toys and gift cards that will be distributed to neighbours, keeping secure daily.

Working Conditions The job incumbent may be exposed to the risk of minor harm, injury, or illnesses due to:

  • Driving and moving of physical inventory.
  • Verbal or physical attacks by others (i.e., violent/aggressive person).
  • Exposure to infectious diseases.

The above responsibilities must be discharged in accordance with The Salvation Army’s Mission Statement, in a professional manner, upholding our code of conduct. Education And Experience Qualifications Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

  • One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service-related fields.
  • Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations, or administration is an asset.

Experience And Skilled Knowledge Requirements

  • Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills (in person and on the phone)
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Current and valid Driver’s License.

Skills And Capabilities

  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative, and professional manner.
  • Proven ability to multitask.
  • Works independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player.
  • Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others.
  • Proficiency in other language(s) is an asset.
  • Be able to lift up to 40 lbs.

Compensation The target hiring range for this position is $41,706.30 to $52,132.88 with a maximum of $62,559.46.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
