About the role
Senior Project Manager
Dartmouth, NS
Hawthorne Recruitment is proud to partner with the Macklan Group of Companies in their search for a Senior Project Manager to join DORA Construction Ltd. — a leader in delivering projects that balance technical excellence with a purpose-driven, values-based culture. With a growing portfolio that includes multi-family living complexes, modular commercial builds, schools, daycares, and healthcare facilities, DORA is known for its collaborative approach and strong community impact across Nova Scotia.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Senior Project Manager will oversee multiple projects simultaneously, with a primary focus on multi-residential and modular builds, as well as light steel framing, mass timber, historical restoration, and concrete construction. This is a pivotal leadership role requiring not only technical expertise but also the ability to guide and motivate teams, maintain strong relationships with contractors and clients, and ensure seamless coordination across every phase of project delivery. Responsibilities include scheduling and budget management, contract negotiation and administration, health and safety compliance, and quality assurance. Equally important, the Senior Project Manager will engage early and often with clients and project partners — anticipating needs, guiding decisions, and building the long-term relationships that distinguish DORA in the industry.
The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of full-cycle project management experience in multi-residential and commercial construction, though flexibility exists for exceptional candidates with demonstrated delivery success. Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and contracts is essential, along with strong knowledge of panelized systems and structural steel. Experience with mass timber construction is an asset. Proficiency with project management software such as Procore is highly valued. Just as critical are the leadership skills to mentor teams, the aptitude to manage complex client relationships, and the problem-solving ability to anticipate
and address challenges before they arise.
This opportunity offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental coverage, RRSP matching, paid volunteer time, summer hours, a wellness allowance, professional development opportunities, and more. DORA emphasizes work-life balance and offers growth potential within a collaborative and supportive environment.
If you are an experienced project manager who thrives on both technical execution and relationship building — and who is motivated by making a positive impact in the community — we encourage you to apply. Submit your application to Hawthorne Recruitment, where we remain committed to making matches made meaningful.
