We are seeking a 0.75 FTE School Nurse at our Morven Campus (Grades 8 - 12). The School Nurse supports the health and well-being of Grades 8–12 students by providing direct care, health education, and preventative services, while working closely with the Student Support Team to ensure coordinated care. They serve as a trusted resource for students, staff, and families, balancing clinical care with guidance and advocacy. They work in partnership with a 2nd School Nurse (0.75 FTE) in the campus’s health centre, and work during the school year (when school is in session). This is a Permanent position for 30 hours a week starting August 28, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Assess, respond to, and manage both emergent and non-emergent health concerns.
- Provide guidance and counselling to students, parents, faculty, and staff on mental and physical health matters.
- Deliver education on current health trends, communicable diseases, wellness practices, and preventive strategies to promote long-term health.
- Maintain and review medical documentation to ensure accurate records of students’ and staff’s health status.
- Participate in weekly Student of Concern meetings and contribute to discussions on the Health and Safety Committee.
- Perform nursing procedures within the licensed scope of practice, following established policies and procedural guidelines.
Required qualifications
- Current BCCNP registration in good standing as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
- Valid Basic Life Support (HCP) Certification
- A minimum 2 years experience in a pediatric setting and/or acute care setting
- OFA 2 or 3 Certification an asset
- Effective management skills and ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues
- Discretion regarding the handling of sensitive and confidential information pertaining to student, parent, faculty and staff
- Canadian residency and legally entitled to work in Canada
