Desired Results of the Position:

To officiate the Intramurals Leagues in a safe, controlled and professional manner
Nature and Scope
Reporting to the Recreation Manager & Recreation Coordinator, this position is responsible for officiating and scorekeeping various sports within our Intramurals Leagues.
Job Duties
-
Game Sheet Official - Accurately complete game sheets, ensuring all player stats are recorded correctly and legibly.

Score Clock Official - Maintain the time and update scores consistently throughout games.

Floor Official - Officiate games by enforcing rules, assessing penalties, and maintaining a fair, controlled, and safe environment.

Ensure games start and finish according to schedule by managing league timelines effectively.

Organize, set up, and take down sports equipment efficiently before and after every shift.

Maintain a clean and organized gymnasium, including sweeping and preparing facilities for use.

Monitor equipment condition, report any issues.

Support recreation staff by carrying out additional duties as assigned.

Adhere to the Part-Time Staff code of conduct.

- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create relationships by communicating respectfully with players, staff, and spectators.
- Confident when enforcing rules, addressing conflicts, and making assertive decisions on the court/field.
- Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to make quick decisions under pressure while considering the impact on fairness, safety, and gameplay.
- Responsible, punctual, and professional in all officiating duties.
- Ability to maintain an inclusive environment by being attentive to cultural, gender, and diverse sensitivities.
- Maintain strong attention to detail when tracking scores, time, and game sheets.
- Officiating experience or strong knowledge is an asset in the following sports:

- Soccer
- Ball hockey
- Basketball
- Volleyball
Compensation:
- $17.60/hour
