Reporting to the Plant Maintenance Superintendent, the Senior Maintenance Planner is responsible for leading and coordinating the team of planners to ensure effective planning. He or she ensures that maintenance priorities are aligned with the organization’s operational needs and reliability objectives. Based in the Montreal office on a 5/2 schedule. The position requires occasional travel to the Windfall site, located in the Northern Quebec region. Transportation, lodging, and meals provided.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with OHS and environmental standards, as well as internal procedures;

  • Supervise, mentor, and support the team of maintenance planners for fixed and mobile equipment;

  • Ensure the quality and standardization of planning and scheduling processes;

  • Coordinate the preparation of planned shutdowns and major projects;

  • Ensure resource availability;

  • Ensure adherence to weekly and monthly schedules;

  • Collaborate with the operations, reliability, engineering, and procurement departments;

  • Participate in the development of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies;

  • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions;

  • Support failure analysis and continuous improvement initiatives;

  • Ensure optimal use of the SAP/CMMS system and data quality;

  • Develop the team’s skills through coaching and training;

  • Participate in daily coordination and weekly planning meetings;

  • Participate in departmental budgeting;

  • Perform any other tasks related to the Senior maintenance planner position that are relevant to the success of the project.

Required qualifications

  • Hold a college diploma (DEC) in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering, a vocational diploma (DEP) in Electromechanics or Industrial Mechanics, or have relevant experience in mechanics (5–10 years of experience);

  • Have 5 years of experience as a supervisor of a team of planners;

  • Strong ability to communicate in English (spoken and written). Will be required to interact with English-speaking suppliers;

  • Hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license.

Technical skills

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement and project management principles;

  • Proficiency in maintenance processes;

  • Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS);

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite software (Excel, Outlook, etc.);

  • Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA software (a plus).

Basic skills

  • Motivational leadership;

  • Extensive experience in industrial maintenance and planning;

  • Ability to analyze and manage priorities;

  • Knowledge of reliability principles and continuous improvement;

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously;

  • Meticulous, with a proven track record of ethics and integrity.
