As the next Project Manager, you’ll lead mission-critical hazardous materials removal and demolition work, balancing safety, regulatory compliance, technical excellence, and client satisfaction every step of the way.
Based in Ottawa, you’ll manage multiple projects from planning through closeout, guiding teams, vendors, and stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes. You will take ownership of the project lifecycle, ensuring every job is delivered safely, on time, on budget, and to the highest standard.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Overseeing contract administration, technical execution, and ongoing project support across large or multiple smaller projects
- Leading safety, budget, quality, schedule, and profitability performance
- Reviewing performance status reports for safety, cost forecasts, and schedule health
- Developing and enforcing project-specific safety plans
- Managing relationships with clients, consultants, trades, and internal teams
- Leading the change order process, including pricing, negotiation, and documentation
- Coordinating internal resources and third-party vendors for seamless execution
- Creating detailed project plans and tracking progress with precision
- Managing scope, schedule, budget, and resource adjustments as required
- Performing risk management and forecasting to stay ahead of issues
- Maintaining strong vendor and partner relationships
- Staying current with emerging technologies and evolving industry practices
- Supporting additional tasks as required to ensure successful project delivery
About You
You’re an experienced Project Manager who leads with confidence, communicates effectively, and thrives in dynamic field-and-office environments.
The successful candidate will have the following:
- 5-10+ years of construction project management experience (hazmat experience an asset)
- Strong knowledge of safety legislation, principles, and best practices
- Demonstrated ability to lead effective project meetings with clients, consultants, and team members
- Proven experience managing and motivating field and office teams
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound professional judgment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with strong time-management abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; comfortable with operational/project systems
About the Job
Physical & Security Requirements
- Approximately 50% field work, 50% office work
- Ability to navigate active construction and abatement sites
- Must be physically able to wear full and half-face respirators
- Valid driver’s license required
- Must be eligible for Secret-Level Federal Security Clearance
- Will be required to enter active hazardous materials abatement zones (asbestos, lead, silica, mold, etc.)
Total Compensation
- Very competitive salary
- 3 weeks’ vacation
- Health & dental benefits after 3 months
