Job Title: Senior Financial Analyst
Location: Calgary
Hybrid: 3 days in office
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Analyst to join our finance team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the month-end close process, gross margin (GM) analysis, and accruals, while also supporting divisional reconciliation and commission calculations. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, and a solid foundation in critical thinking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in the month-end close process including preparation of journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Analyze and explain gross margin variances by product, division, or region.
- Calculate and track sales commissions, ensuring alignment with internal policies and incentive plans.
- Perform divisional financial reconciliations and analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial reporting.
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances; proactively identify issues and propose solutions.
- Prepare ad-hoc reports for senior management to support strategic decision-making.
- Ensure financial records comply with ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises), and company accounting policies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business operations and drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- CPA designated or actively enrolled in the CPA program considered an asset.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in a financial analyst, accounting, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of ASPE and its practical application in financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Excel and financial systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics GP, Office 360, etc.).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
Assets (Nice to Have):
- Experience with commission plans and incentive compensation tools.
- Familiarity with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
