About the role

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The General Labour position involves a range of tasks that contribute to the overall manufacturing processes at Omex Manufacturing ULC. The General Labour tasks include but are not limited to: operating production equipment, packing and inspecting products in a safe, consistent manner while meeting all productivity and quality standards established by Omex Manufacturing ULC.

 

DUTIES OF THE JOB: 

  • Operate production equipment/work centers, package product & inspect product. 
  • Create first-off / last-off parts. 
  • Follow process-specific work instructions and verbal directions to meet production schedules and quality requirements. 
  • Complete quality inspections at predetermined intervals using calibrated fixtures and devices. 
  • Ensure only quality parts are accepted and notify supervision and quality of any quality related issues immediately.
  • Complete all necessary documentation: machine safety check sheets, validation check sheets, set-up sheets, quality inspections, production reporting, etc. 
  • Operate the equipment safely and consistently with the company policies, rules, and procedures. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), as required. 
  • Work independently and take the initiative. 
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external parties. 
  • Work in a professional and cooperative manner. 
  • Strong team player, able to interact with all levels within the organization. 
  • Work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act (OSHA). 
  • Follow all Omex Manufacturing ULC company policies. 
  • Willingness to take additional training courses, as required. 
  • Achieve performance requirements in a responsible and economic manner. 
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the Omex Manufacturing ULC Code of Conduct. 
  • Maintain a tidy and organized area. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Required: 
    1. Highschool diploma or equivalent, with strong organizational and time management skills. 
    2. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks repeatedly, including lifting (minimum 40lbs), grabbing, manipulating, bending, and standing for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
    3. Willingness to learn and adapt to different tasks and responsibilities within the manufacturing environment.
    4. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and productively. Job responsibilities are expected to be completed within the 40-hour workweek. Overtime may be offered in response to operational demands, however; it is not guaranteed and will be assigned at management discretion. 
  • Assets: 
    1. Previous relevant experience in a comparable role or industry.
    2. Familiarity with basic tools, machinery, and manufacturing processes.

COMPENSATION:

  • Starting hourly rate: $21.34
  • Upon completion of probation hourly rate: $21.90
  • One year hourly rate: $23.03
    1. Midnight Shift Premium - $1.50 per hr. 
    2. Overtime pay after 40 hours
  • Company Paid Benefits, uniforms provided, pension and 2 weeks’ vacation 
  • Company allowance for Safety Shoes and Prescription Safety Glasses

  • Straight Shifts
