Lora Bay Golf Club is seeking Stewards/Dishwashers to join our culinary team in Thornbury.
At Lora Bay, we take pride in crafting an extraordinary dining experience. Under the guidance of renowned Chef Mark McEwan and his team at McEwan Restaurant Consultants, our culinary program is built on expertise, innovation, and the highest standards of excellence. Chef Mark’s insights shape our menus, refine our kitchen operations, and elevate our service, ensuring every dish reflects culinary mastery. This collaboration also provides our kitchen team with hands-on training, fostering growth and skill development under industry-leading mentorship.
Reporting to the Executive Chef, the Steward/Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas, ensuring smooth kitchen operations, and upholding high health and safety standards throughout the kitchen.
Full-time and part-time positions are available starting the end of April through the end of October.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the longevity and cleanliness of all equipment provided
- Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of working areas (floors, equipment, tables, etc.)
- Scrape, wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, glassware, cutlery, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, drains, ceilings, and work surfaces.
- Ensure dishwashing and sanitation equipment is operated safely and correctly
- Sweep and mop floors
- Report equipment malfunctions, maintenance issues, or safety hazards to the Executive Chef
- Remove garbage and recycling as required
- Assist in opening and closing the kitchen
- Organize dishes for events/functions
- Ensure health and safety standards are met
- Meet deadlines for providing clean dishes
- Attend training when required
- Maintain full awareness of and strictly observe Health & Safety and fire procedures
- Maintain awareness of and comply with hotel and company rules and regulations as outlined in the team member handbook
Qualifications:
- No experience required. Training will be provided
- Beginner-level English communication skills
Work Arrangement:
- Strong ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Demonstrates a high regard for health and safety, consistently following safe work practices and procedures
- Comfortable working in varied kitchen settings, including:
- Indoor and outdoor kitchens in a high-heat environment
- Fast-paced industrial kitchens with open flames, deep fryers, and grills
- Physical ability to:
- Stand up to 90% of the shift
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work with sharp knives, hot equipment, and liquids.
- Occasionally kneel, push, or pull kitchen equipment.
- Work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
Compensation:
- Pay Range: $17.60 to $18.50 per hour
