EA's Legal Team is looking for a junior lawyer to join us as Commercial Counsel. You will support EA's corporate groups, managing commercial agreements, creating and reviewing company policies and commercial playbook content and will work with other EA Legal Department members around the world. You will report to the Managing Commercial Counsel, and you will work a hybrid work schedule, defined as 3+ days in office from our Burnaby (BC) office.
What a Commercial Counsel Does At EA
- Act as the initial point of contact to business teams and counsel on a wide variety of matters including technology, commercial, and corporate matters.
- Draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including software licenses, consulting and other services agreements, SaaS and other cloud agreements, hardware purchase agreements.
- Interpret agreement language and company policies for business partners, advise on their obligations, and evaluate and advise on contractual risk and its mitigation.
- Manage contingent worker issues.
- Help create contract templates and guidance documents for EA's commercial playbook, review and comment on drafts of company policies, and contribute to other internal projects
- Work closely with other EA attorneys and legal professionals, senior management, and representatives of third-party companies.
Qualifications
- Member in good standing of a Canadian Law Society
- Common law experience
- 3 or more years of experience with a law firm providing services for technology clients or relevant in-house experience with companies in the technology industry
- Experience drafting and negotiating different types of commercial agreements.
- Able to manage the entire contract process from initial contact to execution.
Compensation And Benefits The ranges listed below are what EA in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in these locations at the time of this posting. If you reside in a different location, a recruiter will advise on the applicable range and benefits. Pay offered will be determined based on a number of relevant business and candidate factors (e.g. education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, or business needs).
PAY RANGES
- British Columbia (depending on location e.g. Vancouver vs. Victoria) *$111,600 - $152,800 CAD
In British Columbia, we offer a package of benefits including vacation (3 weeks per year to start), 10 days per year of sick time, paid top-up to EI/QPIP benefits up to 100% of base salary when you welcome a new child (12 weeks for maternity, and 4 weeks for parental/adoption leave), extended health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, disability insurance, retirement plan to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
