Responsibilities
As a Casual Status Lakehead Security Guard, you’ll play a key role in protecting our students, staff, and property, while contributing to a welcoming and secure campus environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Patrolling campus buildings and grounds to prevent theft, vandalism, and safety risks
- Monitoring for fire hazards, equipment malfunctions, and emergency situations
- Enforcing parking and smoking regulations
- Responding to medical calls and assisting emergency responders
- Providing walking escort services and guiding visitors around campus
- Supporting the University’s Lost & Found and writing clear, timely reports
- Working collaboratively with other guards and local police, fire, and paramedic services
Qualifications
- Grade 12 and experience
- Law & Security Administration diploma, Police Foundations, or relevant post-secondary education an asset
- A valid Ontario Private Security & Investigative Services License (or willingness to obtain one – we’ll cover the test fee based on eligibility!)
- Valid Class G Driver’s License and clean driving record
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification
- Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills
- Professionalism, discretion, and reliability
- Physical ability to perform regular patrols – on foot and by vehicle, including stairs
- Willingness to work rotating day/night shifts
