WAGE RATE: $37.071 – $38.157
Reporting to the Manager of Outpatient Mental Health Services, the RPN will implement and monitor services to meet the needs of individuals with significant mental health issues following Recovery Principles. The RPN must be able to function independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team and work cooperatively with multiple service providers. This position requires travel throughout the catchment area (Grey and Bruce Counties) to deliver programs and to meet the needs of clients. Responsibility for a case management caseload is required. This position is initially targeted to work in our Prevention and Early Intervention Program for Psychosis (PEPP) Team with the understanding that the RPN is a member of Outpatient Mental Health Services and as such may be assigned to another program as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Current Registration with the Ontario College of Nurses
- Completion of a Psychiatric Nursing education program
- Familiarity with principles and practice of the Recovery Model as well as case management and rehabilitation
- Psycho/social and mental status assessment skills
- Experience in medication delivery, administration and monitoring
- Ability to provide a wide range of counselling, support, advocacy and education services to clients, their family members and others of significance in the client’s life
- Ability to communicate positively and professionally with family members, community providers and physicians
- Minimum two years’ experience working in a multidisciplinary team in outpatient mental health
- Knowledge of DSM-V and Mental Health Act
- Extensive traveling required – Possession of a valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License and personal reliable vehicle
- Ability to work closely as a member of a team and share responsibilities
- Knowledge of medication side effects and coping strategies
- Ability to co-ordinate multiple interests to provide quality patient care
- Ability to problem solve and make effective decisions during highly stressful and potentially violent emergency situations
- Willingness to learn new concepts and integrate them into practice
- Ability to work all shifts
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
