####LINE COOK
FULL-TIME, SEASONAL
**YOUR DAILY MISSION:**work with our kick-ass culinary team to create an exceptional food experience.
WHO ARE WE?
We’ve been making kick-ass coffee for over 25 years.
We’re Canada’s #1 selling Whole Bean coffee. All our coffee is Organic and Fairtrade, roasted right in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, smack dab in the middle of nowhere.
And it’s not just our coffee that’s good. We’ve been recognized as one of the Best Workplaces in Canada by Great Place to Work since 2015. We work hard and have fun. That’s how we roll.
WHO ARE YOU?
You bring the flavour, zest, and fiery passion for all things food and taste. Maybe you are a seasoned (pun intended) professional in the culinary arts, or maybe you are just getting into the scene, but one thing is certain: you love food. But what do you love even more than food? Pairing it with coffee to create one kick-ass culinary experience. You’re not afraid to spice things up and try new things, but you’re also happy to follow a recipe. Is it just us, or do you and our café sound like the perfect pairing?
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Create an exceptional culinary experience for all our Café guests. Work with people who love what they do. You will cook, prep, and create incredible tasting food, to bring joy to people the one way you know best, through feeding their stomachs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and cook high-quality food for our guests, following recipes and maintaining attention to detail in every dish.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen by following all food safety, sanitation, and storage procedures.
- Stay on top of the prep list, adding needed items to the ordering list and communicating clearly with your leader.
- Create exceptional dishes by measuring ingredients accurately and maintaining consistency and plating standards.
- Follow all standard operating procedures and prep lists to ensure a high level of quality and consistency.
- Create and contribute to a positive, energetic, and dare we say, fun, work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Love and passion for food. Period.
Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen or similar fast paced culinary environment.
- Strong knife skills, including chopping, mincing, slicing, and dicing with accuracy and consistency.
- Solid understanding of food safety standards and a commitment to upholding them at all times.
- Dedication to contributing to a safe, respectful, and inclusive kitchen environment.
- Ability to follow recipes, execute dishes consistently, and maintain high-quality preparation standards.
- Pride in producing delicious, nutritious, and visually appealing dishes.
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks such as twisting, bending, and lifting 25–50 lbs.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Food Safe Level 1 or 2 (or willingness to obtain within a defined timeframe).
- Education in culinary arts or hospitality is an asset but not required.
ADDITIONAL INFO
This is a full-time, seasonal role offering 32-40 hours per week during the summer months. Scheduling aligns with operating hours and will require flexibility – this includes weekends, holidays, and peak summer times.
OUR VALUES AND WHAT WE LOOK FOR
**Do What’s Right.**It’s not always neat and tidy. It means taking care of people, the planet and the business. No posturing, no greenwashing, just grown-up conversations and real accountability.
- Think it through and keep it real. Whether you’re on the line, in prep, or managing a rush, you think ahead, communicate honestly, and make decisions that support service, quality, and the team.
- Own it, speak up, and back your people. You own mistakes and learn from them, speak up when something needs attention, and help create a kitchen where people feel respected, supported, and able to grow.
**Never Half-Ass It.**We’re on a mission to annihilate mediocrity. It’s not about burning out - it’s about showing up, caring deeply, working smart, and taking our craft seriously (but not ourselves).
- Bring the pride and the polish. You care about the pour, the plate and the clean up. Whether you’re creating dishes or scrubbing pans, you do it with care and craft.
- Refuse to cut corners. You don’t compromise on quality, cleanliness or service. If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing properly – even when it’s busy.
**Cut the Bullshit.**It’s about systems that work without waste, kindness without drama and root-cause thinking over quick fixes. No fluff, no fuss – just clarity, honesty and getting to the heart of things.
- Cut the noise and keep it simple. You know what needs your attention, don’t overcomplicate things, and look for smart, practical ways to make the work flow better.
- Say what you mean, kindly. You speak up when something’s off – whether it’s a shift issue or a better way to serve guests, you’re direct, honest and drama-free.
- Take feedback like a pro and build trust while you do it. You stay open to what’s working and what’s not, use feedback as a chance to grow, and contribute to a café culture built on direct communication, respect, and support.
**Be Remarkable.**We’re not here to play it safe or follow the crowd. We’re here to break patterns, defy expectations and drop a few jaws along the way. If it’s forgettable, it’s not for us.
- Bring the magic, not the meh. You take pride in your craft – whether it’s latte art, plating brunch or keeping the dish pit spotless. You care about quality, and it shows.
- Think big and get after it. You’re not afraid to bring ideas, improve a process, or jump in when something needs doing before it becomes a bigger issue.
- Leave things better than you found them. You clean up, tune up, and level up. Whether it’s a shift, a system, or a team dynamic, you make a positive mark.
**Do It All With Love.**Love? Buck yeah, Love! It’s our not-so-secret ingredient. We care deeply about the work we do, the people we work with, and the impact we have. That love shows up in every cup – and in every shift, plate, and interaction.
- Bring the good energy and sweat the details. You make space for joy, bring great vibes to the shift, and care about the little things in prep, presentation, and experience because they make a big difference.
- Lead with kindness, care and respect. You treat guests and teammates like humans (not just transactions). You bring empathy to the floor, not just efficiency.
- Build trust and show up for each other. You’re honest, open, and dependable, celebrate the wins, support each other through the wobbles, and help create a space where people feel welcomed and valued.
