Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Manager of Dietary Services or designate, is responsible for preparation and service of all meals in accordance with the menu. Prepares and serves the clients nutritious meals.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepares meals and diets according to regular and therapeutic menus following HACCP.
- Ensures all food has reached and is maintained at proper temperature before it leaves the kitchen. Ability to work any shift in cooperation with other Cooks.
- Follows production quantities in the preparation and loading of food into hot carts.
- Serves meal in assigned dining room according to diet list and therapeutic menu.
- Reviews menus and confers with Food Services Supervisors regarding cooking schedules, modified diet preparations, waste control, production quantities etc.
- Suggests menu or recipe changes.
- Monitors stock for any shortages resulting in a change of menu and documents.
- Refers to menu and assists in preparing the list of products that need to be ordered.
- Inspects food and meats in storage and controls sanitary maintenance of work tables and equipment.
- Follows the Health and Safety, Ministry of Health and HACCP guidelines and procedures.
- Collects food samples and takes temperatures as required for each meal.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of Grade 12 in the Province of Ontario or equivalent.
- Ability to speak, write and understand English.
- Graduation from recognized course in Institutional Cooking.
- Minimum three years experience in all facets of Long Term Care and Institutional cooking.
- Ability to work any shift.
Compensation and Other Information:
Start - $27.82 per hour
6 Months or 1040 hours - $28.10 per hour
1 Year or 2080 Hours - $29.03 per hour
This posting is for 1 temporary up to 26 weeks part-time position.
Work Arrangement: On-Site
