POSITION SUMMARY

The Data Assistant is responsible for supporting data driven initiatives, including data gathering, analysis, reporting, and visual presentation such as Power BI reports and dashboards. The Data Assistant will integrate insights from Microsoft Dynamics 365 and streamlining data flows across multiple platforms. The successful candidate will support Key Performance Indicator (KPI) tracking, internal and external reporting, and staff training while contributing to data governance and knowledge management.

Current Project Responsibilities will include developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards and reports, extracting insights from internal systems, and ensuring accurate data integration across platforms. This role collaborates with IT and business teams to optimize data flows between systems, enhance real-time reporting, and reduce redundancies.

Start Date: Monday September 15, 2025

Location(s): Waterloo, Ontario (Hybrid)

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Clean and prepare data for analysis to ensure accuracy and usability.

  • Assist in gathering organizational data from various sources.

  • Design, build and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports.

  • Provide visualizations that are clear, actionable, and aligned with MEDA’s goals.

  • Extract and transform data from Microsoft Dynamics 365 CRM and other internal systems.

  • Support the use of SharePoint for improved organizational knowledge sharing.

  • Work with the Impact team to monitor KPIs and indicators across projects.

  • Assist in creating data visualization and reports for donors, internal reviews, and learning sessions.

  • Collaborate with teams across Programs, Business Development, Finance and Communications.

REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, computer science, economics, or a related field.

Experience: At least 2 years of professional experience in data governance and reporting.

Technical Expertise: Power BI, Microsoft Dynamics 365, SharePoint, Microsoft Office, SQL, or experience using other query tools. Experience of using online data gathering survey platforms and PowerApps.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.

  • Prioritizing several tasks at once, with strong attention to detail and quality.

  • Excellent computer skills.
