Job summary:
Lantic is currently recruiting a Buyer based at our Montreal refinery. The position reports to the Senior Corporate Buyer. The Buyer processes requests for goods and services, and purchase of chemicals to maintain operations at the Montreal refinery. He/she creates and analyzes reports to guide and support procurement strategies, all in accordance with Lantic policies, procedures and rules.

Responsibilities:

  • Process and support purchase requests in Maximo/Business Central;
  • Manage chemical inventory and place orders;
  • Manage and track purchase orders;
  • Analyze and challenge received bids;
  • Search, analyze, and qualify new sources of supply;
  • Ability to manage, analyze, and negotiate calls for tenders;
  • Monitor and validate the progress and execution of service agreements/contracts;
  • Assume a negotiating role with all suppliers to minimize risk for Lantic Inc.;
  • Support internal customers in achieving objectives;
  • Update and maintain documentation: Purchasing – ISO;
  • Complete supplier evaluations on a regular basis;
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of procedures;
  • Involvement in budget development;
  • Follow-up on non-conformities with internal teams and suppliers;
  • Coordinate production testing for chemical products;
  • Replace purchasing colleagues as needed;
  • Perform any other related tasks.

Qualifications and professional experience required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in administration and/or certificate in supply chain management;
  • 5 years’ experience in a purchasing position, preferably in the food and/or manufacturing field;
  • Very good knowledge of purchasing and its technical aspects and basic financial knowledge;
  • Key knowledge of the maintenance parts market (plumbing, electrical systems, packaging, construction materials, etc.) and chemicals;
  • Mastery of MS Office, Outlook, Maximo, Business Central;
  • Knowledge of and compliance with ISO, HACPP, FSSC22000;
  • Excellent priority management and analytical skills;
  • Autonomy, rigor, good organizational skills, responsibility, and stress management;
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills;
  • Result-driven and promotes teamwork;
  • Knowledge of English/French to ensure proper communication with our English and French speaking sites, as well as with our various suppliers.
