The Position

The Community Supports Coordinator provides individualized, person-centred support and system navigation for individuals experiencing mental health and substance use challenges, as well as their families and caregivers. Working from a recovery-oriented approach, the Coordinator connects individuals with community resources, mental health services, and other supports, helping to reduce barriers, promote community inclusion, and empower people to achieve their wellness and recovery goals through compassionate guidance, advocacy, and collaboration.

Position Responsibilities

The Community Supports Coordinator is responsible for providing compassionate, person-centred support to individuals experiencing mental health and substance use challenges.

Key responsibilities include

Provide individualized system navigation, advocacy, and peer support to individuals, families, and caregivers. Assist individuals with applications and appeals for financial assistance and other income support programs. Connect individuals with affordable or no-cost counselling, therapy, recovery, education, employment, and other community support services. Support individuals in accessing affordable housing, housing subsidies, and navigating landlord-tenant concerns. Maintain an active caseload, ensuring accurate client documentation, statistics, and confidential records. Build and maintain knowledge of community resources to support community integration, independence, and recovery. Promote CMHA Wood Buffalo programs and services within the community. Prepare required reports, including funder reporting and program statistics. Participate in ongoing professional development, training, and community collaboration opportunities. Perform other related duties as required to support programs, organizational objectives, and fundraising.

Qualifications and Experience

A recognized diploma or undergraduate degree in human services area or equivalent experience Clear CRIM Check is required Previous work experience within the mental health field Highly developed communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills an asset.

Strong facilitation skills as well excellent written and organizational skills

Strong knowledge of community resources Self-motivation and initiative are a must; strong decision making and problem solving skills Advanced knowledge of MS office programs (word, excel, PowerPoint, outlook) Effective written and verbal communications skills

Application Process

This is a full-time position, based on available funding. Hour of work: 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, in person. Benefits and Group RRSP available after successful completion of probationary period.
