This posting will be used to fill 1 permanent full-time position working 75 hours bi-weekly. It will establish a 12-month eligibility list which may be used to fill similar perm, term, and AOC positions.
This job is based in the lively community of Dawson City in the beautiful Yukon.
Our team
The Dawson City Medical Clinic (DCMC) provides primary health care services to clients across the age spectrum, offering booked and same-day care for minor illnesses, injuries, and medical procedures, and supporting patients with chronic health conditions. The clinic operates as a collaborative primary care team, with physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and medical office assistants working in partnership with other co-located allied health professionals to deliver integrated, client-centred and culturally safe care.
Your role
A primary care Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides family-centered care, combining advanced practice skills, research, and specialized nursing knowledge to deliver health care to clients from birth to death and with health issues ranging from acute to chronic, and simple to complex.
Reporting to the Clinic Supervisor, DCMC, the NP provides direct and indirect primary health care at the DCMC. The NP role at DCMC will provide care across the client population, with a specific focus on providing care to those who most benefit from continuity of care (e.g., pre- and post-natal care, gender-affirming care, chronic disease management, addictions management).
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will have significant experience working in a primary health care clinic setting working in collaboration with other medical and allied health staff.

- Either registered or eligible to be registered as an NP in good standing with the Yukon Registered Nurses Association
- Significant experience working as a primary health care NP in a collaborative practice model
- Knowledge of and experience working with either perinatal clients, clients accessing gender affirming care, clients requiring ongoing chronic disease management, and clients requiring management for mental wellness and/or substance use challenges would be an asset
- Demonstrated Northern, remote or rural experience providing primary health care is an asset

- Experience utilizing electronic medical records (EMR) systems to support clinical documentation
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple clinical responsibilities, schedules, and administrative requirements efficiently
- Ability to provide leadership, coaching and training to members of the team
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Demonstrated ability to recognize the importance of self‑care and to engage in collaborative team practices that support safe, high‑quality patient care.
- Ability to provide person-centred care that focuses on improving outcomes

This job requires you to perform, and/or be exposed to, the following:

Incumbent works in a clinical environment both physically established and mobile.

Exposure to infectious agents in the handling and disposing of bodily fluids and wastes, needles, dressings, and treatment of patients with infections. and latex products.

As this position troubleshoots any unusual event within the facility as well as providing direct care. There is potential for exposure to emotional, physically abusive and/or dissatisfied clients/patients/residents and family members.

There is a high degree of job stress in dealing with emergency situations and emotional stress in dealing with emotional situations of loss of physical abilities, adjusting to new environments, terminal and acute illness, bereavement, families in crisis, alcohol and drug problems, depression, and unpredictable behaviors.

The position must travel within the territory periodically, and travel out-of-territory to attend meetings, workshops, and conferences for professional development, as required.

May participate in an after-hours call schedule to support clinic services outside of business hours.

Incumbent may experience increased stress from clinical experiences and associated decisional responsibilities.
