Apprentices gain hands-on shop experience, receive mentorship from licensed technicians, and complete industry-recognized I-CAR training while building a long-term career in the trade. Following successful completion of the probationary period, apprentices are provided with a starter toolbox to support their development toward I-CAR Platinum-level structural certifications and ultimately Red Seal collision repair technician status. Key Job Responsibilities Maintain a safe and organized work environment by following shop safety procedures and properly using tools and equipment. Actively participate in the Technician Development Program by completing assigned training, applying new skills, and working under mentor guidance. Assist with vehicle disassembly and inspection to support repair planning under the supervision of a licensed Auto Body Technician. Perform basic repair preparation tasks including trim removal, parts organization, and surface preparation. Support minor repair work such as plastic repair, basic metal finishing, and installation of non-structural components. Assist with vehicle reassembly ensuring components are installed correctly and meet company repair standards. Shadow a Licensed Auto Body Technician to perform repairs Participate in assigned I-CAR training and hands-on development activities as scheduled, including completion of the ST015L Squeeze-Type Resistance Spot Welding Hands-On Skills Development course. Minimum Education and/or Experience Required for the Job High School Diploma or equivalent Completion of or enrollment in an Auto Body Repair program preferred Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Ability to safely use basic hand tools and shop equipment under supervision Ability to follow repair instructions, OEM procedures, and mentor guidance. Strong attention to detail when organizing parts, hardware, and repair components. Willingness to learn new repair techniques and actively participate in training. Ability to work collaboratively with technicians, mentors, and shop leadership. Other Requirements Travel, physical requirements, etc. Frequently required to bend, crouch, reach, handle tools and lift approximately 50 lbs. Organize and Maintain the starter toolbox kit.
