The role

As Director, Financial Reporting, you will own DCM’s external financial reporting - driving accurate, timely quarterly and annual filings, leading a skilled financial reporting and corporate accounting team, and ensuring full compliance with IFRS and CSA requirements.

This is a hybrid role, working a minimum of 3 days per week in our Brampton office.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation and filing of all quarterly and annual financial statements, MD&A, and all continuous disclosure documents in compliance with IFRS and Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) public company requirements

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly and annual corporate close process, including corporate account reconciliations (debt, pensions, RSUs/DSUs, equity, PPE, leases), foreign currency revaluations, and consolidations

  • Research and interpret new IFRS pronouncements and assessing their impact on financial statements and accounting policies

  • Lead the application of complex accounting standards, including business combinations, revenue recognition, lease accounting, equity-based compensation, and other IFRS-related topics

  • Maintain and enhance a strong internal controls environment, ensuring ICFR compliance and supporting process improvements across the finance function

  • Coordinate quarterly reviews and annual audits in collaboration with external auditors

  • Review and analyze financial data to identify discrepancies, trends, and financial performance

  • Deliver financial insights and recommendations to senior management for strategic decision-making

  • Manage, mentor, and develop the financial reporting team, providing clear direction and ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and evolving accounting standards

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with tax, treasury, operations finance, and other teams to ensure consistency and alignment across reporting and compliance requirements

Skills & experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a CPA designation (or equivalent) required

  • 10+ years of experience in financial reporting, including 5+ years in a management role within a public accounting firm and public company reporting environment

  • Deep technical knowledge of IFRS and CSA reporting requirements

  • Strong experience preparing and analyzing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and related interim and annual MD&A

  • Demonstrated expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance

  • Proven ability to develop and implement financial reporting strategies that align with business goals and support growth and profitability for strategic planning

  • Proficiency in Excel, with a strong ability to automate and streamline manual processes

  • Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of corporate and divisional management

  • Effective problem solving, analytical, and conceptual skills, with the ability to see the “big picture” while managing complex details

  • Innovative, continuous improvement mindset with a proactive approach to process optimization

  • Highly organized and deadline-driven, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics ERP and financial software applications and a background in manufacturing and/or consumer products industry an asset

Compensation: $147,608 – $184,510 CAD per year

The compensation range listed reflects the expected compensation for the role. Actual compensation will be determined based on individual skills and experience.
