We’re Hiring!
We are currently looking to fill a full-time, permanent position for a Purchasing Supervisor in our Purchasing Department at our Leamington ON facility.
What You'll Do:
- Support a small team of purchasing staff to ensure efficient and effective performance of duties with support from management. Provide guidance and support to develop each team members skills and knowledge in procurement practices.
- Monitor and evaluate overall team performance. Provide feedback and recognition for achievements while addressing performance issues promptly and constructively with HR/management support.
- Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct in all interactions and decision-making. Uphold company values and standards, inspiring trust and respect among team members and stakeholders.
- Support performance objectives and KPIs as dictated by management. Develop the capability to identify opportunities and create value-added KPIs.
- Collaborate with management to develop and maintain performance metrics. Construct reporting methods to provide insight into departmental performance.
- Collaborate with management and develop the capability to analyze costs associated with procurement and identify opportunities for cost savings through bulk purchasing, supplier negotiations, or alternative sourcing strategies with support from management.
- Collaborate with management and develop the capability to identify potential risks in the supply chain such as supply disruptions, price fluctuations, or quality issues, and support management in developing strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Act as a liaison between team members and senior management, conveying information, updates, and feedback effectively.
- Ensure that all purchased materials and services meet quality standards and specifications required for greenhouse operations inclusive of conducting random inspections or quality checks, and vendor evaluations.
- Maintain current supplier relationships for various inputs such as grower consumables (fertilizers, biologicals, etc.), repairs & maintenance equipment, and other materials necessary for greenhouse operations.
- Obtain quotes and ensure the timely delivery of goods as required by the purchasing ticket.
- Track and report cost savings, avoidance, and increases.
- Highlight market testing opportunities of key items.
- Support a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging feedback, innovation, and learning under the guidance of management. Identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency gains, and team member skill development to enhance team performance.
- Collaborate with Human Resources for recruitment, employee relations, incidents, disciplinary actions and terminations if necessary.
- Approve/deny employee time off, expense reports and timecards within deadlines required to ensure smooth completion of payroll.
- Manages the annual performance review process for purchaser(s) and collaborates with the leadership team/HR to deliver the performance review.
- Support special projects, fleet management, and maintenance activities as required.
- Inquire about warranties, maintain warranty records, request warranty services or replacements.
- Track and pursue credits for missing products that were not shipped with management support.
- Receive supplies if necessary as well as processing returns and exchanges when needed.
- Ensure accuracy of information between ConnectWise and MS Nav/BC.
- Proposing terms and assisting with credit applications.
- Collecting and organizing manuals from purchases for future reference.
- Record keeping of all purchases. Historical records dictating how and where something was purchased can assist with repeatability in the future.
- Mentor under key Purchasing and Managerial Leadership to continue skill development.
- Must comply with all Health and Safety, Food Safety, Bio Security, and Nature Fresh Policies and Procedures.

- An openness for learning, developing, and advancing personal skills and capabilities.
- A high degree of confidentiality and integrity are required regarding all aspects of the business and employee matters.
