Location: Brossard, Quebec (CA-QC)
Assignment: Temporary
Hours of work: 40 hours per week
# of openings: 1
Salary range: Step 1 : $CAN43.82/hour; Step 2*: $CAN46.74/hour (*After 90 worked days)

Your responsibilities
-
Perform mechanical maintenance, and inspect, repair, dismantle, and assemble machinery, locks, bridges, and both light and heavy equipment;
-
Modify or fabricate parts for machinery and structures of locks, bridges, and buildings, according to specifications;
-
Assemble, install, test, maintain, and repair equipment and machinery;
-
Perform hydraulic maintenance and inspect diesel and gas engines;
-
Assist with civil work and operate lifting equipment, as required;
-
Unload, load, and transport heavy machinery and equipment;
-
Complete standard maintenance field reports;
-
Perform minor welding and cutting repairs.
Your profile
-
Diplôme d’études professionnelles (DEP) in Industrial Mechanics in Quebec, or a recognized apprenticeship program or equivalent in Ontario;
-
Holder of a Certificate of Qualification in Industrial Mechanics (CCQ) – Millwright;
-
Minimum of two (2) to five (5) years of experience in maintenance, installation, and inspection of heavy equipment and mechanical systems;
-
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
-
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical manuals;
-
Practical knowledge of mechanical and rigging procedures and techniques;
-
Eligible for marine transportation security clearance;
-
Available to undergo a medical examination, functional capacity assessment, and drug screening;
-
Valid driver’s license (Class G in Ontario or Class 5 in Quebec) with an insurable driving record;
-
Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and near open water;
-
Ability to communicate effectively in French, both verbally and in writing.

The Great Lakes/Seaway System is a “marine highway” that extends some 3,700 km from the Atlantic Ocean to the Great Lakes. Ranked as one of the greatest engineering feats of the 20th century, the Seaway includes 13 Canadian locks and 2 U.S. locks connecting the lower St. Lawrence River to the Great Lakes. Together with our American counterpart, the Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation, we coordinate on a host of operational activities, ranging from traffic management to navigation aids and every other conceivable issue you might imagine would be important for a major waterway.

Le réseau Grands Lacs-Voie maritime est une « autoroute maritime » qui s’étend sur quelque 3700 km de l’océan Atlantique jusqu’aux Grands Lacs. La Voie maritime, considérée comme une des plus grandes prouesses d’ingénierie du 20e siècle, comprend 13 écluses canadiennes et 2 écluses américaines entre le bas du fleuve Saint-Laurent et les Grands Lacs. De concert avec notre homologue des États-Unis la Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation, nous coordonnons des activités opérationnelles dans un éventail de domaines, depuis la gestion du trafic jusqu’aux aides à la navigation et à tous les autres aspects imaginables que vous pourriez juger importants pour une grande voie navigable.
