Job Description Two Positions Availabe located at: 1480 Sutherland Ave. Kelowna BC
1 - 30 hours per week - Tuesday thru Saturday 9:00am - 3:30pm (half hour unpaid lunch)
1 - 30 hours per week - Tuesday thru Saturday 3:00 - 9:30 (half hour meal break unpaid)
(hours will fluctuate)
Position Purpose Summary The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other.
Kettle Runner position is a short-term contract position. The successful candidate is responsible for oversight of several Christmas Kettle locations in a given geographical zone area. Zone locations include shopping malls, grocery stores and retail outlets.
Key Responsibilities Incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties as below.
- Be a positive and outgoing representative of The Salvation Army Okanagan Central.
- Attend a day of training/orientation on The Salvation Army and the Christmas Kettle Campaign
- Provide support in getting Kettles to zone locations prior to volunteer arrival at Campaign onset
- Ensure all Kettle donations are delivered to secure location at shift completion
- Communicate daily issues and supply deficiencies to Volunteer and Kettle Coordinator
- Provide training to and the orientation of volunteers assuring proper Kettle handling and duties as required
- Delivers and picks-up kettles and/or supplies to kettle sites daily as required.
- Make scheduled and unscheduled safety checks at kettle sites assuring policies and protocols are adhered to.
- Troubleshoots issues with kettle stands and tap devices, e.g. kettle hardware, battery issues, etc.
- Ensure timesheets and mileage reports are submitted accurately and timely (bi-weekly basis)
- Respond to questions/queries from volunteers and site hosts.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT Governance Boards and Councils: n/a
Internal: TSA staff members, Kettle campaign team
External: Community members
Managerial Responsibility
- Reports directly to Volunteer & Kettle Coordinator.
- Gives Supervision to Volunteer Kettle Workers.
Financial And Materials Management
- Collect donations in accordance with policies and procedures ensuring donations are always kept secure.
Working Conditions
- Work environment is a typical office environment and typically in malls/stores
The above responsibilities must be discharged in accordance with The Salvation Army’s Mission Statement, in a professional manner, upholding our code of conduct. Education And Experience Qualifications Qualifications and education requirements:
- Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset
Experience
- A minimum of one year of related experience or working in customer service
- Money handling experience is an asset
- Related experience is an asset
Skills/capabilities
- Must have a solid understanding of basic to intermediate computer operation including Microsoft 365 programs, data entry, internet browsers, and some file management and ability to create reports.
- Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
- Be a positive and outgoing representative of The Salvation Army Okanagan Central.
- Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to provide an original copy of a Background Check that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required, including Child Check (if appropriate).
- A Driver’s Abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required
- Valid driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Enthusiastic Team Player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20 – 25 lbs)
- Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities
- Willingness to be flexible and work well under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer, and organizational information
Compensation The target hiring range for this position is $17.85 to $20.64 with a maximum of $24.77.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
