Garland Commercial Ranges is looking for an Engineer I!
Under close supervision, the Engineer I performs a variety of engineering work requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criterial in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks. The candidate assists in the planning and design of products, tools, and equipment. Incumbents receive specific and detailed instruction regarding required tasks and expected results. Tasks typically relate to design, test, verification and reliability of mechanical and electromechanical food service products and systems. This is an entry-level position, typically with little or no practical experience.
Reporting to the Mgr., Engineering, this position is 100% based in our Mississauga, Ontario facility. This is a full-time, permanent role that is an addition to headcount.
Major Accountability:
- Heavy emphasis on the building of prototypes and execution of product development and agency testing.
- Focus on design for service, troubleshooting procedures and error definitions.
- Involved in field issue resolution, including analysis of returned components.
- Works on new product designs, product improvements, test analysis, and as an operations liaison.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
- Emphasis on procurement and assembly of prototypes and jigs/fixtures.
- Execution of tests and reports, as well as other lab work.
- Expected to participate in field test setup and monitoring, which may require international travel.
- Basic proficiency with small tools is a must to build prototypes, setup units for testing and participate in field test activities (some international travel may be required).
- Any experience with electrical wiring or schematics is an asset.
- Prepares concept sketches, detailed drawings, and design models. Knowledge of SolidWorks is an asset.
- Participation in root cause analysis, scheduling and costing, as required.
Qualifications
- Specialized Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Knowledgeable of fundamental engineering principles concepts, practices and procedures of a field of specialization.
- A basic understanding of design theory and the ability to read and prepare drawings.
- Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- 0-2 years of experience required.
- Working Conditions
- Heavy computer use.
- Normal office environment; must be able to sit for long periods
- Must be able to stand/walk/sit for extended periods.
- May be required to lift up to 50 Lbs.
