About the role

Job Summary

Reporting to the Building Systems Supervisor, the Painter applies paint, wallpaper and other finishes to interior

and exterior surfaces of buildings and other structures. The Painter prepares a variety of surfaces (wood,

masonry, drywall, plaster, concrete, synthetics, stucco and metal) prior to the application of materials such as

paint, high performance coatings, waterproofing, fireproofing, varnish, shellac, wall coverings and specialty

finishes. The Painter complies with the Occupational Health and Safety standards for the hospital and is

proactive in promoting a safe work environment.

Duties

Ability to read, write and follow instructions in English - required

Manual dexterity, motor co-ordination and physical strength - required

Ability to plan work - required

Demonstrate knowledge of many types of finishes, their properties and their applications – required

Demonstrate excellent colour aptitude - required

Able to calculate areas and relate calculations to required material - required

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;

Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment- required;

General good health and a level of fitness appropriate for the demands of the position - required

Ability to work safely in accordance with all aspects of the Occupational Health & Safety Act .

Qualifications

Minimum Grade 12 education - required

A valid certificate of qualification as issued by the Ontario Provincial Government as an Industrial Painter and Decorator - Branch 2 404D.
