The incumbent will support and streamline the migration and operation of various infrastructure workloads to the public cloud environment. The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will participate in the setup of the vital infrastructure to support the bank's continued growth. This role's contributions to the team will help guide design decisions and implement tooling and technologies to help with both migration, maintenance, and ongoing support of the bank's public cloud environments. This role operates in a mixed of in-house and outsourced IT services environment.
Responsibilities
- Work within a cross-functional team to engineer, implement and manage cloud services and solutions at scale.
- Assist in the engineering and implementation of reliable, scalable, cost effective and secure application environments using public cloud infrastructure and platform services.
- Build automation tools to streamline and manage and scale applications, platform, and infrastructure services
- Take proactive role in project scoping, planning, design, and development to drive successful solution delivery.
- Work with cloud governance team to implement Cloud FinOps, cost management and reporting setups. This will include analyzing trends, understanding spend patterns, creating reports, dashboards, alerts, anomaly detection
- Follow standard cloud practices to create the right FinOps governance framework
- Create trends, forecast reports to create awareness about spend anomalies
- Provide recommendations to the IT leadership regarding suggested investments and service changes, including lifecycle management.
- Helps establish and monitors key performance indicators, taking effective action where results are below internal and vendor SLA targets.
- Resolve system incidents where applicable and execute maintenance and support of the LBC infrastructure environment through the LBC change management best practices.
- Ensures that effective ITIL-based best practices are maintained for interactions with support vendors.
- Participate of business and IT projects.
Qualifications
- University Degree in a technical or business-related discipline and 6-10 years of related experience or
- College Diploma in a technical or business-related discipline and 9-12 years of related experience.
- 2+ years' experience designing, implementing, and operating solutions on a variety of IaaS/PaaS offerings, both public and private clouds at a massive scale (Azure and AWS preferred)
- 2+ years' experience managing large scale container environments using Kubernetes.
- 2+ years' experience managing both Windows and UNIX/Linux environments at massive scale.
- 2+ years' experience with automation/configuration management tools (Terraform, Ansible, Bash, PowerShell, Python, Go).
- 2+ years' experience using continuous integration build and test tools (GitHub, Runners, Jenkins).
- 2+ years' experience hardening and securing SaaS environments.
- Knowledge of best practices in an always-up, always-available, customer orientated SaaS service.
- Experience in a 24x7 operating environment.
- Cloud environment migration & management experience
- Experience managing or delivering IT services and operations in a mixed managed environment. including both in-house managed services and outsourced and managed services environments.
- Experience applying ITIL best practices is an asset.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in core competencies including leadership, , teamwork, adaptability, problem solving, judgement and decision making.
