What you’ll do:
Reporting to the Agro Sales Manager, the Agro Sales Representative is primarily responsible for developing clientele and growing Ag. business within the seed, crop protection, ag equipment, and fertilizer commodity lines. In this role, you will be responsible for driving business growth by developing new client relationships.
You will engage with customers, providing them with tailored solutions that meet their needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong sales skill, agronomic knowledge, understanding of the products and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse clientele. Working collaboratively with the Management team and our customers, you will uphold Coop’s Values in every interaction.
You will be responsible for:
- Business Development:
- Develop and implement effective sales strategies to penetrate new markets and expand customer base.
- Analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities for growth.
- Prepare and present sales proposals that align with client needs.
- Support agronomic programs such as soil sampling, tissue sampling and field scouting.
- Building Partnerships and Client Support:
- Conduct regular visits to clients to build relationships and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely delivery of products and services.
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities and customer interactions.
- Provide Agronomic support for clients both over the phone and in field.
- Driving Sales:
- Close sales while maintaining a high level of customer service.
- Accountable for meeting budgeted targets for sales volumes, margins, and customer contacts.
- Growth Mindset *:*Participate in marketing discussions alongside the Agro Manager/Agro Sales Manager and apply an expert level of operational knowledge, commodity direction, and organizational skills to assist in product and service procurement.
Who you are:
You have a go-getter personality with a receptive attitude. You are passionate about a career in Agro, you enjoy Agro-related conversations, interacting with farmers, selling, and customer service comes naturally to you. You also have:
- Education: Ideally a Degree or Diploma in Agriculture (Agronomy, Ag Business, etc.), holding a P.AG and/or CCA certification is an asset.
- Experience: Ideally 5+ years of experience in either a Sales or Agronomy based role.
- Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s license throughout employment.
- Willing to work increased hours during the busy season. This will include evenings, weekends and Holidays when required by customers.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build rapport quickly.
- Proficiency in analyzing data to inform sales strategies and decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively and close deals successfully.
- Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple accounts simultaneously.
- You are experienced in computer skills with an intermediate understanding of MS Office Suite. Prior POS/ CRM experience is an asset.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability and the ability to deal with people tactfully and professionally at all times. You’re honest and trustworthy, are results-oriented, and strive to be the best in what you do.
