Development Officer, Events
Reports To: Managing Dire:ctor, Fund Development & Marketing
Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 4:00 pm.
Location: #130, 2850 Sunridge Blvd NE, Calgary, AB T1Y 6G2.
Purpose of Position:
Pacekids Programs is a charitable organization that strives to empower children with special needs and their families through excellence in therapy and education. Serving over 700 children and families annually, Pacekids offers a range of programs and services that promote children’s healthy development, maximize quality of life, assist families in their role as primary caregivers and support full participation in community life.
As a key member of the Fund Development and Marketing team, the Development Officer, Events exemplifies Pacekids’ values of collaboration, learning, respect, integrity, and accountability, and plays an integral role in fostering a team that shares the Pacekids’ vision and mission while collaborating with staff members across the organization.
Tasked with the management of Pacekids’ signature and third-party events, donor relations and stewardship activities, fund development administration and database management, the ideal candidate will have a high attention to detail and well-established project management skills.
This is a full-time permanent position, with hours outside of a regular workday occasionally required. Diplomacy and tact are required as this position has access to confidential information.
Overview of Responsibilities:

Event Coordination
- Serve as the lead coordinator for Pacekids signature events including the annual golf tournament, celebrity dance off and fun run.
- Manage all event logistics including timelines, venues, equipment requirements, ticket sales, donation platforms and auction item solicitation.
- Develop and manage event critical paths and event budgets to ensure each event is completed to a standard of excellence within pre-determined budgets.
- Coordinate, recruit, train, and direct volunteers, acting as primary point of contact when required.
- Work with Communications and Engagement Specialist to create event collateral and develop social media strategies.
- Manage the fulfillment of sponsor requirements and appropriate reporting in a timely manner.
- Advance Pacekids’ relationships and engagement with current and potential event sponsorship partners.
- Work with the Managing Director and the team to identify event sponsorship prospects.
Third Party Events
- Research and cultivate relationships that enhance and expand Pacekids’ third-party fundraising events and initiatives.
- Attend events and presentations as a representative of Pacekids where appropriate
- Respond to inquiries and requests with professionalism in a timely manner.
- Liaise with a variety of stakeholder groups including Pacekids staff members, families, and community partners as required.
Donor Cultivation & Stewardship
- Support cultivation and stewardship strategies to convert event attendees/supporters to annual giving or major donors and engage current donors with signature events.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the overall fund development strategy to grow the donor base and fundraising targets.
- Coordinate the collection and maintenance of donor information in the database
- Assist with preparation of grant proposals and reports when required.
- Contribute to a fast-paced, collaborative, and supportive team dynamic.
Administrative Support
- Ensure timely and accurate recording and receipting of all donations, sponsorships, and gift in-kind and financial contributions.
- Maintain clear financial records for revenue and expenses associated with all events and provide monthly reports and related summaries when required.
- Assist with all fund development administration as required and create and update documents to help keep the team organized and efficient.
- Support other Pacekids team members with special projects as required.
- Commit to the values outlined by Pacekids – working to ensure a positive and respectful workplace culture
Position Requirements:
- 3-5+ years’ experience with event management, fundraising, donor relations and/or project management.
- Post secondary education in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management skills with the ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
- The ability to develop event strategies that align with long-term fundraising goals and annual budgets.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate and steward relationships with donors, corporate sponsors, and community partners.
- Strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal
- A collaborative team member who is goal-oriented and driven to achieve results.
- Proficient computer skills and comfort in using Zoom, Teams, MS Office Suite; experience with CRM platforms such as Donor Perfect or Raiser’s Edge is an asset.
- Clearance from a Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector check, current within the last six months; can be obtained upon hire within a designated time frame
- Clearance from a Child Intervention Record Check, current within the last year; can be obtained upon hire within a designated time frame
- Current Alberta driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle
- Passion for making a difference in the Calgary community.
