Behind the scenes, but ahead of the curve: help us develop the next-generation public broadcaster.

T&I is the backbone and the future-forward arm of CBC/Radio-Canada. We are the people that make stuff work. We make connections; between media content, systems, people and places. We are the space in between.

A place with purpose. CBC/Radio-Canada has always been a highly-regarded pioneer of media technology. Not just in Canada, but around the world. Today, we’re transforming ourselves from a conventional radio and television broadcaster into a modern digital media company. Technology is the driving force and T&I is the team making it happen.

This role requires full-time on-site presence.

Your Role:

More than a technician, you are a SysOps specialist responsible for the national software ecosystem of CBC/Radio-Canada Transmission. Your mission is twofold: support and administer critical platforms (telemetry and remote control, energy, asset management, NMS, etc.) and optimize existing software solutions (scripts, automations, patches) to maximize overall performance. You are at the heart of coordinating national initiatives that impact the entire Transmission network and its users. Focused on customer service, you are a specialist in improving work processes.

Strategic Responsibilities:

  • System Administration (SysOps): Management of the complete life cycle of key applications (Schneider PME, Vimbiz, Pleasant Password, VTSDB, VTS, Google Drive, various NMS Platforms). Ensure the security, updates, and integrity of national databases (SAP links, Power BI, VTSDB, etc.). Server/client administration. Provide user support in collaboration with manufacturers.
  • Architecture and National Projects: Reference expert for the deployment of national application solutions specific to CBC/Radio-Canada Transmission. Active participation in calls for tender, drafting of technical reports, testing of emerging solutions, and management of software projects and work processes.
  • Coordination and Training: Coordination of national working groups and transfer of technical knowledge to expert users in the regions.
  • Application Support and Coding: Develop, test, and maintain advanced automation scripts and configuration files (VBA, Python, PowerShell, SQL, SCADA, Power Query, Javascript, etc).
  • Collaborate with manufacturers to suggest code modifications or patches developed internally or externally in connection with the supported applications.

Desired Profile

  • Have a customer-oriented approach and solid communication skills.
  • Hybrid Profile: Solid experience in system administration (SysAdmin) coupled with an understanding of digital radio and television broadcast Transmission infrastructures.
  • Innovative Spirit: Ability to code solutions to overcome the limitations of commercial software.
  • Remote technical support: Telemetry units (DV and Cortex), cellular modems, laptops, Schneider meters, VPNs, etc.
  • Technical Leadership: Ability to manage complex timelines and influence management's strategic decisions.
  • Good Programming Knowledge: Good knowledge of the languages used (VBA, Python, PowerShell, SCADA, Power Query, Javascript, etc). and comfortable with database queries (SQL).
  • DEC (College Diploma) in electrical / electronic / computer engineering technologies or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Bilingualism.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
