The position is well suited to an engineer who enjoys problem-solving in real-world conditions and working directly with site teams.
Responsibilities:

- Provide on-site engineering support during construction and installation of water, waste, or industrial systems.
- Review construction activities for conformance with drawings, specifications, and design intent.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and project teams to resolve technical and constructability issues.
- Support field inspections, progress tracking, and deficiency resolution.
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, process, and control issues during commissioning and early operations.
- Verify that systems meet design, safety, and performance requirements prior to handover.
- Collect, review, and interpret operational data to support performance evaluation and issue resolution.
- Provide ongoing technical support to operations teams as required.
- Coordinate closely with design engineers to communicate field conditions, lessons learned, and recommended design adjustments.
- Prepare clear field reports, commissioning documentation, and technical summaries.
- Maintain awareness of schedule, scope, and site constraints, and communicate risks or delays proactively.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with site-specific health and safety requirements.
Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental, or related Engineering discipline.
- 6+ years of experience in field engineering, construction support, commissioning, or operations roles.
- Experience supporting infrastructure projects in water, wastewater, industrial, mining, or energy sectors.
- Registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) and/or Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) is considered an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing high-quality technical deliverables.
What We’re Looking For:
- Demonstrated experience supporting commissioning and start-up of engineered systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment, process, and operational issues in field environments.
- Experience working directly with contractors, operators, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple site activities simultaneously.
- Comfort working in active construction and operational environments.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and clear documentation.
- Willingness to travel and work on project sites as required.
- Flexibility and the ability to manage change with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
